Maine Joins National Popular Vote Plan Pact

On April 15, Maine joined the National Popular Vote Plan pact, when Governor Janet Mills let LD 1578 take effect. The plan won’t go into effect until more states join. The additional states must have at least 61 electoral votes.

  6. Undocumented residents of the United States do everything in their power to avoid coming into contact with government officials. Sometimes they even skip getting medical care for fear of interactions. Undocumented people have absolutely no desire or interest in registering to vote.

    I know many people, not just one. They are hard-working, honest, kind, productive people. They should be given a path to acceptance in this country, and certainly should not be rounded up and put in camps as a certain presidential candidate advocates.

  12. I know plenty of illegal alien invaders who are nothing like what you describe. They don’t avoid contact with government officials. They have none of the qualities you mentioned. They are leeches and parasites. I’d shoot them on sight if our laws were what they ought to be.

    They’re bringing crime, deadly poison drugs, gangs, deadly contagious diseases, stealing our jobs and young women, engaging in human trafficking…then there are the lunatics, terrorists, and literal invading armies. Being rounded up and put in camps or deported would still be way too nice to them, but it would be a start.

    §1325. Improper entry by alien

    (a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts

    Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

    (b) Improper time or place; civil penalties

    Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of—

    (1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or

    (2) twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection.

    Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed.

    (c) Marriage fraud
    Any individual who knowingly enters into a marriage for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or fined not more than $250,000, or both.

    (d) Immigration-related entrepreneurship fraud

    Any individual who knowingly establishes a commercial enterprise for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, fined in accordance with title 18, or both.

  16. How do I know them? In multiple ways. Friends in law enforcement deal with them all the time. They clog up our schools and hospitals. I’ve had to deal with them in numerous capacities, as have many people I know. It’s a fact of daily life here. Yes, they have been in my home too, uninvited. Luckily I caught them in the act.

    They didn’t get what they came for, but they didn’t quite get what they had coming to them either. I would have ended up doing time if they had, despite being well within my rights to shoot them dead on the spot. The law would have called it excessive force. I disagree.

  24. Both the type of illegals Mr. Winger and the type Mr. Blood talk about exist. The latter are becoming more common under Beijing Quisling Biden as every organized America hating regime, gang, cartel, terrorist group, organized crime mob, weapons and drug and sex trafficking outfit, illegal slave trade operation, robbery and extortion racket etc in the world becomes increasingly organized in bringing prisoners, insane asylum inmates, foreign military and Intel operatives into the US in organized networks.

    The “good” illegals only serve the globalist elites in more long term ways – depressing American wages, population replacement aka White genocide, creating a mixed race of future slaves through race mixing, manipulation of redistricting through being counted in the census, their US born children eventually voting here, etc.

    Any state could do that now.

    In fact, it might be interesting if some state did it. Then some of the problems of NPV would be more apparent to people, such as the fact that a lot of states don’t count absentees ballots for President if the number of such is less than the margin of the winner in that state.

  26. Anyway, I think that the method that Maine uses now to select its Presidential electors is superior to any other method in use, or proposed.

    I probably should have written that Maine should adopt unilateral NPV.

    The statute could be written to require the SOS to report back to the legislature about any inconsistencies in the presidential election process among the 50 states.
