Illinois State Court Strikes Down New Illinois Ballot Access Restriction as Applied to the 2024 Election

On June 5, an Illinois state trial court ruled that the new law passed by the legislature last month is unconstitutional, at least as applied to the 2024 election.  The new law abolished the ability of qualified parties to nominate anyone for the legislature after the primary was over.  Collazo v Illinois State Board of Elections, Sangamon Co. Circuit Court, 24-CH-32.  Here is the decision.

  1. The fact that Redpath won’t seek local office is proof positive that he’s a Libertarian and not a Communist. Libertarians, generally speaking, prefer not to run for winnable local offices because they are afraid they will win. Redpath will only tilt at windmills by running for unwinnable offices such as Congressional seats.
