Nicole Shanahan Says Kennedy-Shanahan Ticket is Considering Dropping Out — 42 Comments

  1. I still don’t think that RFK Jr. draws more votes from Trump than Kamala. A lot of RFK voters say they would vote for Trump if RFK wasn’t in the race. What I think is happening is that many of those voters are liberals who can’t bring themselves to vote for Joe Biden/Kamala after they voted for them in 2020, but that they are very reluctant to vote for Trump, so they default to the other Democrat in the race.

I want to see RFK work as the director of the EPA under Trump. His career has been him working as a lawyer to stop wrongful practices that harm the environment. It would be a good fit for RFK and a giant middle finger to the Democrats who forced him out of the party.

  2. I don’t see why Shanahan would see Trump as a lesser evil than Harris from her perspective. I don’t even know what some of them words mean, but even so.

  3. I think Aaron Rogers would have made a better running mate. Or maybe Bill Weld. I’ll still vote for RFK Jr. if I see his name in November. I’ll only vote if I see his name in November.

  4. It’s startling how expensive an independent campaign has gotten since Ralph Nader’s last run.

  5. Bill Weld endorsed Kamala Harris for President. Weld endorsed Joe Biden for President in 2020.

  6. Per wikipedia: “In 2019, Shanahan pledged to contribute $100 million through Bia-Echo over five years, mostly for “reproductive longevity” research, which aims to help women become pregnant later in life). She has repeatedly criticized in vitro fertilization (calling IVF “one of the biggest lies that’s being told about women’s health today”)…”

I don’t know about you, but that sounds relatively CONSERVATIVE of her. Wanting people to have kids, even if it is later in life, is a conservative value even if that means that women focus on their careers until they hit 40 or 50.

Then wikipedia says: “Shanahan expressed support for banning abortion at “between 15 and 18 weeks” while a Kennedy spokesman said ‘he believes the cutoff should be at fetal viability.'”

That’s the standard cutoff for abortion in Europe. Democrats not only stabbed RFK Jr. in the back (along with Shanahan), but they also want abortion up to birth even though a C-section would save a viable fetus. Abortion seems to be a key issue with Shanahan, hence why she’s willing to support Trump since he’s a Reagan Republican which is much closer to Classical Liberals than actual modern Liberals are. Trump’s views on abortion is very moderate.

  7. That’s a big reach. From the same article:

“In the 2010s and 2020s, Shanahan made various contributions to left-leaning organizations and Democratic political candidates,[11] including Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and Ro Khanna’s congressional campaigns.[17] In 2020, she was a “major donor” to Measure J, a criminal justice reform referendum in Los Angeles County.[35] Also in 2020, she contributed $150,000 to support George Gascón’s campaign for Los Angeles County District Attorney.[36]

During the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, Shanahan contributed $2,800 each to the campaigns of Marianne Williamson and Pete Buttigieg.[12] She co-hosted a fundraiser for Buttigieg in December 2019, along with other wealthy Silicon Valley figures.[12][37] After Joe Biden became the presumptive nominee, she supported his campaign, contributing $25,000 to the Biden Victory Fund,[12][7] and a five-figure sum to the Democratic National Committee.[17]”

Nothing about conservative or pro life anything.

  8. IMO, third party candidates should not drop out, but should simply state that if any other candidate believes that they should get the votes of those third party candidates, then those other candidates should appeal directly to the potential voters of those third party candidates. This prevents third party voters from feeling betrayed by third party candidates who make deals and endorse major party candidates.

Let third party voters decide for themselves if they think that a major party candidate has persuaded them to switch their votes.

  9. I attended RFK’s Pennsylvania ballot challenge hearing this morning and my gut reaction is it didn’t look good for him, but who knows? Unfortunately RFK was supposed to appear and testify but his flight had been canceled and the next flight got him to Harrisburg too late. The judge refused to make any accomodations for this and sadly Kennedy arrived just as the hearing was wrapping up. He was not permitted to testify.

The objectors spent most of the hearing arguing that since New York knocked Kennedy off the ballot, PA should do the same for the same reason. The entire transcripts of the New York case were admitted as evidence and the objectors kept harping that RFK was intentionally trying to deceive voters as to his real address.

RFK attorney Paul Rossi argued that NY state has long been Kennedy’s residence, it’s where he’s always been registered to vote, and he was making a good faith effort to provide the proper address to go on the petition papers. He also argued that other states do not require Presidential candidates to provide their home address and making this requirement goes against the constitutions qualifications for running for office. Rossi made good points but the judge refused to allow other states nomination papers into evidence.

As for the following of the 5000 signature requirement instead of election code’s 2% of previous election highest vote getter (currently around 32000), Rossi made good arguments about fair and equal elections and that the 5000 signature requirement which is a temporary number given to the Green, Libertarian, and Constitutional parties should apply to all independents and third parties.

My hunch is that Democratic Commonwealth Court judge Lori Dumas will rule in favor of adhering to the 5000 signature requirement (although Claudia de la Cruz is being challenged on the same point so I expect consistent rulings) but may indeed use the NY case as an excuse to keep RFK off the ballot. I don’t know. She’s described as being “fair” but she seemed particularly harsh on Paul Rossi and I could see he was getting frustrated a couple of times.

I imagine whatever the outcome, it will be appealed.

  10. Political consultants, petition contractors and lawyers are the only people who got anything out of the brainworm campaign. It’s a scam, like the no lube party.

  11. If this campaign is so worried about taking more voters from Trump than Harris, why are the Democrats fighting so hard to keep RFK from being on the various state ballots? Sounds like the Democrats think Kennedy will help Trump more.

  12. If indeed Mr. Kennedy pulls out of the race, I think a good many of those potential voters for RFJ, Jr. would back Donald Trump.

  13. Well if he really wants to do that, then Kennedy should give his ballot access to Cornel – you know, considering that Mr. West didn’t even bother to turn in his petition signatures in some states.

  14. Let the voters decide who should “drop out” with their own votes. What could be better?

  15. What could be better? Standing count vote by party. No candidates, no ballots.

  16. How is it better not to let voters vote directly for candidates? Is the election for the voters, or for the candidates?

  17. @Stan from Standingstan,

The Democrats used an interesting variant of standing count to choose a replacement for Sheila Jackson Lee in TX-18. There were 88 precinct chairs eligible to vote. There were 6 candidates nominated. For the first round, each voter came to the mic, and announced their vote. Two candidates advanced. After they had a vote, they did a division.

They set up two sets of 44 chairs. Voters would sit in the section for their candidate. Candidate with fewer empty seats was elected.

For large scale elections, chairs could be set up in parking lots.

  18. Contra Nuña yesterday, Brainworm Bobby DID try to sell himself to both Trump and Harris for 30 pieces of silver. And failed. This is the result.

  19. Richard Schwarz, your commment above about the Pennsylvania court hearing today is so informative, I turned it into a “guest” blog post. I hope you don’t mind. I really appreciate your description.

  20. Is this on the up and up? Remember the post that said Joel Skousen was leaving the race and it turned out to be false.

  21. Oh, looking at its feed? The Twitter site to which Winger links?

This “End Tribalism in Politics” looks like kinder, gentler MAGAts, to riff on Poppy Bush, trying to hide themselves under a veneer of a pretendian version of Dear Leader Obama’s Kumbaya.

  22. Just fucking go away Stock. Take care of your guests, that is if you still have a job.

  23. Wow, I live in dungfly’s head so rent free that I even get brought up without having to be present at all now 😁

The fact of the matter is that, contrary to (that’s the correct English phrase to use, dungfly, not “contra” – we aren’t fighting for the liberty of Nicaragua, alas) what the Democrat propaganda mouthpiece knows as the “Washington Post” vomits up, Kennedy didn’t try to sell his endorsement to either Trump or Harris.

It would also simply not make any sense for him to do so. Neither Trump nor Harris want his endorsement. Trump doesn’t need it either. And Kennedy is even less likely to endorse Harris, who is even further left of him than Trump is. Such an endorsement would be a betrayal of everything he has campaigned on, and would completely tank any credibility he has, thereby also spoiling his chances of making it into the winner’s cabinet in exchange for such an – again unwanted – endorsement.

  24. Anyone with any sense already knows you’re the biggest troll here regardless of whether Stock is or not, if you’re not Stock yourself. You should take your own advice and stop trolling. But you won’t. Free speech isn’t free; bottom dwelling, feces eating trolls like you are the price. Hopefully, you’ll die and be with your master Satan sooner rather than later.

  25. Kennedy is to the left of Harris, and she will win the election easily, with or without his endorsement. As usual, the numbskull troll inverts reality 180 degrees and stands it on its head. No time for its nonsense.

  26. @Dan, yes, she donated to Democrats… who then stabbed her and RFK in the back. She donated to Democrats along with Silicon Valley tech giants… who recently donated to TRUMP.

I think she wants revenge on the Democrats like everyone else.

  27. Oh hello, Perun-worshiping nazi. I was wondering how long it would take you to get here and start projecting again.

Harris is to the left of Biden and Trump, who are to the left of Kennedy, who is abhorrently far left.

You don’t have to like it, but you do have to be realistic about it. Facts don’t care about your feelings, and reality does not care about your imagination.

Now if Kennedy could drop Shanahan – which unfortunately he can’t anymore – so much the better, since she always was more in-line with Trump and Harris than with Kennedy.

  28. Numbskull appears to have devolved into gibberish, in addition to the usual inversion of facts and reality. If (s)he’s being true to form, (s)he’s telling us (s)he’s a Perum (whatever that is) worshipping Nazi, by way of accusing others, as usual. Should I bother to look up what a perum is? I’m thinking no.

  29. Bobby to address the nation at 2 PM on Friday from Phoenix ! Why Phoenix instead of New York or California ? Well at 4 PM Trump is holding a rally in Arizona just a few miles away.
