On Friday, August 23, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., spoke in Arizona for almost an hour. We said he is suspending his campaign but that he will keep his name on the ballot in all but ten battleground states. He said that if the U.S. had an honest election system, inclusive debates and a better media, he could have won. He endorsed Donald Trump based on his disagreement with the Democratic ticket on three issues: health, the Ukraine war, and censorship of social media. He did say that he has serious disagreements with Donald Trump.
It is clear to those who watched the entire speech that the issue closest to his heart is declining health in the United States. He painted a bleak picture of the prevalence of chronic disease and contrasted today’s situation with the situation sixty years ago.
He erroneously said that his campaign had collected more signatures than any other in U.S. history. Actually his campaign did not collect as many signatures as the 1992 Ross Perot campaign, and perhaps several others. Because Kennedy was nominated by ballot-qualified minor parties in California and Florida, and because presidential ballot access has eased since 1992, he did not face the same ballot access barriers that some others in the past have faced. On the other hand, no other candidate has been challenged over ballot access procedures as much as Kennedy this year, except for Ralph Nader in 2004.
Can he continue with the NY litigation?

Kennedy should be able to continue his litigation in New York since it’s not a battleground state.

That shouldn’t be allowed.
Richard Winger is a worthless piece of shit.
What about his AIP nomination in California? Is he keeping that?
Richard Winger supports child abuse.
And, he’s “suspended” his campaign, which means he HAS dropped out, Nuña the Nutbar Wingnut.
First, NO “suspended” campaign in recent times has “unsuspended.” Don’t @ me with Perot 1992. First, he did a full drop-out before coming back. Second, a real billionaire, back when that meant more, he was running on his own dime.
Brainworm Bobby “suspended” in all likelihood, rather than dropping out, in part to stay eligible for FEC money that he might get.
Again, no “suspended” campaign has unsuspended.
Certainly, no campaign that has endorsed another candidate has “unendorsed.”
Per Mr. Spock’s sagacity, a difference that makes no difference IS NO DIFFERENCE.
Yes, you still need to eat crow.

Otherwise, as far as his speech? I don’t know which was worse:
The untrue Camelot dreck;
The conspiracy theories;
The pity party, briefly referenced by Winger without calling it a pity party;
Or the general stupidity.
@“Richard Winger lies on August 23, 2024 at 1:17 pm”… Do you know what “Libel/Slander” is…? I suggest you look it up so you don’t get sued.

Glad to see that Trump will win by a lot.
Keep him on the ballot.
Marianne Williamson unsuspended her campaign earlier this year. Just Me/$tock is lying yet again.
Satanists are prone to lying.
Marty & RW lies is apparently testing the limits of free speech on this forum.
@Just me, RFK, Jr will not get anything from the FEC. Matching funds come with strict individual contribution limits, no PAC Money, no foreign donations, and $3,300 per person limit this year. Jill Stein in the only candidate in recent memory who has qualified or applied. She is still waiting for $300,000 plus matching funds she earned months ago. It can only be spent on primary election expenses, or debt at this point.
Although no longer throwing good money after bad on his campaign, RFK will keep most of his ballot lines and likely get a half percent of the vote, so he is a candidate. Even more so than West, PSL or the Constitution party.
Charles, the question is about general election funding, not primary season matching funds. If RFK, Jr got 5% he would get general election funding. All those rules you cite don’t apply to general election funding.
OK, but without an active campaign and dropping 10 ballot lines, their is no real chance that RFK, Jr. will get anywhere close to 5%, so I maintain that is not his motivation to remain a nominal candidate.
“he’s ‘suspended’ his campaign, which means he HAS dropped out”
Which is why he still wants people to vote for him outside of ten battleground states where he has no hope of winning but might act as a spoiler… 😂 Such suspend. So drop out. Wow.
“without an active campaign and dropping 10 ballot lines, there is no real chance that RFK, Jr. will get anywhere close to 5%”
Oh, I don’t know. He has been relatively high profile for an independent and still wants people outside of those ten states to vote for him. He could realistically get 5%. And just to p/o dungfly, I will point out that in 1992 Perot got almost four times that much.
Which 10 states will he drop?
Most likely AZ, GA, MI, PA and WI, at least; those are the most contentious.
The next 5 MIGHT be (these are my guesses) NC, NH, NV, OH and VA.
Anyone else have a guess?
