Alaska Democratic Party Loses Lawsuit to Remove Eric Hafner from the Ballot for U.S. House

On September 10, a Superior Court in Alaska rejected a Democratic Party challenge to the ballot position of Eric Hafner, a candidate for U.S. House and a registered Democrat. See this story. Hafner is in prison and the Democratic Party had argued that if elected, he could not serve.

The Democratic Party didn’t want Hafner on the ballot because they feared some voters might vote for Hafner, instead of the party’s incumbent, even though Alaska uses ranked choice voting.

The case is Alaska Democratic Party v Beecher, S19231.

  1. Do I expect the Democratic Party to go away on this. No I do not.Therefore,
    I will give Hafner one of my rank choice votes to prevent an appeal for going forward with out me being a necessary party to this suit.

    Remember there is a jail cell in the US Capitol so if he got elected they can move his prison cell to the US Capitol.

    How many Democratic Votes will Mary loss to Hafner this November 2024.

  2. The Democrats made the wrong argument. This issue should have been NOT whether Hafner should be on the ballot, BUT whether the Democrats could take away his Democrat label.

  3. The Alaska Supreme Court will hear oral arguments Thursday morning in a lawsuit seeking to remove Eric Hafner, an imprisoned, out-of-state Democrat, from the state’s November election ballot.

    …which would be a penitentiary with numerous such cells. Right?
