Nevada Green Party Files Reply Brief in U.S. Supreme Court — 20 Comments

  1. @Jeff, I don’t know about “expects,” but … normal deadline for NV ballot printing is Sept. 20 per the filing, tho the NGP notes SCOTUS has ordered reprints as late as late October.

Note: From here in Tex-ass, I can say this is not the first time that a state Democratic Party’s lawsuit filing timetable appears designed to crunch into ballot printing or related deadlines.

  2. That’s a good, well-written reply brief. And no matter how this case turns out, this is a case that should be cited regarding the Kafkaesque obstacles to ballot access that third parties face.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. again loses in bid to get off Michigan’s ballot
    Craig Mauger
    The Detroit News
Lansing — A federal judge rejected Wednesday a request from former independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to intervene in the printing of Michigan’s ballots and have his name removed as the presidential nominee of the Natural Law Party.

In an 18-page order, Judge Denise Page Hood of Michigan’s Eastern District dealt the latest blow to Kennedy’s bid to have his name taken off the ballot in the battleground state.

Kennedy suspended his campaign and endorsed Republican Donald Trump on Aug. 23.

Hood wrote that Kennedy was “asking the court to interrupt the election process because he no longer wants to participate.”

“Reprinting ballots at this late hour would undoubtedly halt the voting process in Michigan and cause a burden to election officials,” Hood wrote, three days before ballots must be available to send to military and overseas voters.

Perhaps parties and candidates could print their own ballots by downloading “official” state ballots with the missing names of candidates printed in the write-in spaces, and distribute them as alternative ballots to be cast by the voters in place of “official” ballots, the way they could before “official” ballots became mandatory.
