Georgia Supreme Court Rules Against Catoosa County Republican Party on Procedural Grounds

Earlier this year the Catoosa County (Georgia) Republican Party refused to place some candidates for county office on its May primary ballot, because the county party officers felt the candidates aren’t “bona fide” Republicans. Georgia does not have registration by party so there is no objective method to determine who is or isn’t a party member.

A trial state court then put the candidates on the primary ballot, and they won their primaries. The county party appealed to the State Court of Appeals, but the State Court of Appeals transferred the case to the State Supreme Court. The State Supreme Court said the party was negligent in taking too much time to appeal, so dismissed the case on those grounds. Thus the bigger issue of whether parties in Georgia can block candidates from their primaries on political grounds is still unresolved. Precedent in Georgia says parties can block presidential candidates from their own presidential primaries on political grounds, but it is still not clear whether that principle applies to other office.

Here is the decision in Catoosa County Republican Part v Henry, S24A0917.

  1. So long as the primaries are entirely organized and funded by those party officers, that is fine. But as soon as there is any public funding or organization, and when it comes to general elections, anyone registered with a party who is eligible for an office, should be able to run for that office under that party’s label. The party officers’ feelings be damned. The party’s freedom of association does not imply any right to monopolize the label as if it is some kind of registered trademark.

  2. The other Georgia just banned propaganda, campaigns and events aimed at promoting LGBTQ+ lifestyle, same-sex marriage and gender reassignment, as well as banning LGBTQ+ individuals from adopting children or becoming their legal guardians, in an effort to combat grooming.

Recall that Georgia has been continuously controlled by a series of NATO puppet governments, following the western-backed “Rose Revolution” against the legitimately elected government over two decades ago. Following years of growing anti-“Pride” demonstrations and protests, the Georgian government is now finally listening to its citizens and breaking with such locally unpopular “values” imported from the evil west.

There is even talk within the ruling “Georgian Dream” party about the need to admit NATO’s role in orchestrating Georgia’s invasion of Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Adjaria, and the subsequent genocides, which served as a dry-run for NATO’s “Ukrainian” invasion of and genocide in Donetsk and Luhansk and, with less success, Crimea. Compare that to the situation six months ago, when the leadership of the very same “Georgian Dream” party was still openly calling for new invasions and occupation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The US and EU already want to introduce sanctions against their own puppet over this new LGBTQ+ law, as well as over a recent law defining who can be designated as (hostile) foreign agents. And president Salami Zurabitchvile, who is not a member of the “Georgian Dream” party, is having a complete melt-down that she has lost control of her prime minister and the government, and has started accusing random members of parliament who voted in favor of these laws, of being Russian spies.

In short, there is a major shake-up happening throughout the entire upper echelons of the Georgian government. I do not wish to be prematurely optimistic, but there might even be a chance that Georgians will be re-admissible to the human race within our lifetimes.

When nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were still allies, Caucasians (e.g. Georgians, Armenians, Azeris) troops in the Red Army worked alongside the Germans in Poland. After Hitler decided to backstab Stalin, they were arrested by the Germans, while others defected from the Red Army.

In contrast to captured/defected Russian soldiers, Caucasians were sometimes/often (the frequency is a point of contention) given the option of joining the German army or becoming factory workers for the German military. In factories they ended up being exploited as slaves, much like those abducted from German occupied areas. And in the Wehrmacht and SS, they typically did not rise much in rank and were trusted only with low priority missions.

As a results there were a number of Caucasians stationed in German occupied France, Belgium and The Netherlands. At least several Armenians defected (again) and joined the local resistance fighters in undermining the German occupiers. Several of them were even smuggled from The Netherlands to England alongside downed Allied airmen.

While East Germany was pretty strict about deporting Caucasians again after the war, I would not be surprised if a number of Georgians managed to stick around West Germany after the war, though I do not know of any examples of this happening.

In addition, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, there have of course been ample opportunities for migrant laborers, including Georgians, to move to Germany.
