New York State Court Strikes Down 2023 Law that Moved Many Partisan Local Elections from Odd Years to Even Years

On October 9, New York Supreme Court Justice Gerard J. Neri, who operates in the Fifth District, struck down the 2023 law that moves most local partisan elections from November of odd years to November of even years. New York State Supreme Court Justices are trial court justices, and are elected in partisan elections. Judge Neri is a Republican.
