Rhode Island Secretary of State Says He Supports Easing Definition of a Qualified Political Party

Gregg Amore, the Rhode Island Secretary of State, sppke to a meeting of the Libertarian National Committee on December 7. The meeting was in Providence, Rhode Island. Amore, who is a former state legislator, voiced support for a proposed bill to ease the definition of a qualified party. The current vote test is 5%, but the median vote test of the 50 states is 2%.

No third party has met the Rhode Island vote test since 2014, when the Moderate Party got 21.4% for Governor. The only offices that count are President and Governor.
