The February 23 issue of the New York Times has this story on the lack of competition in U.S. House elections and especially U.S. state legislative elections.

  2. If the New York Times wrote an article about how gasoline is toxic to drink, would you drink it because the NYT said it was toxic, “FAKE NEWS”? Sometimes even the most dubious of sources are more or less correct. Such is the case here with the lack of competition in state and federal legislative elections. The NYT’s overall claim is easily verified via some research of election results and ballot listings. Heck, here where I live in southern IL quite a few candidates at the county, state, and Congressional level ran either unopposed or were in a one vs one race. However, the article does take a very US-centric approach to political ideology and what competition entails; internationally, politicians like AOC are center-left rather than “extremist”, and two candidates in a race is a rather small number (most countries with free and fair elections regularly see 4, 5, or more candidates/parties on the ballot).

  8. It’s not that the NY Slime always makes up their stories from scratch. They usually have some kernel of a basis in reality. It’s in what they cover, what they don’t, and how – mixing truth, lies, half lies, and misleading innuendos to paint a distorted picture – that makes them FAKE NEWS

  9. Trump is the furthest thing from a tyrant. He’s the least tyrannical US president in at least about a century. Beijing Biden was the worst – total Quisling puppet dictator. Thank God for Trump! Kommiela Horrid would have been even worse than Pedo Joe!

  18. We at Democrats Saving Democracy are tremendously butthurt about the very talented and super smart Joy Reid being unjustly fired by her white boss lady in an obvious act of blatant racism! We demand that she be immediately reinstated with a pay raise, apology, and reparations or else we will start a boycott of MSNBC effective immediately!
