  1. 37% of those who preferred the 3rd, 4th, or 5th place candidates, did not express a preference between the first two candidates.

  2. PR — have candidates rank all other candidates before Election Day — post in public
    APPV
    TOTSOP

  3. Let anyone propose a rank order list. (e.g. “Thomas Jones from Detroit, Michigan suggests that you rank the candidates for Mayor of Redondo Beach as:”)

AS YOU NOTED IN 1208 PM – MANY VOTERS FIND IT APPARENTLY TOO DIFFICULT TO VOTE FOR [RANK] MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATE.

THUS MY PR RATIO MATH —

VOTER VOTES FOR ONE CANDIDATE IN LEGISLATIVE BODIES – IF GETS RATIO = ELECTED
IF LOSE — VOTES GO UP TO A REMAINING UN-ELECTED CANDIDATE

And if you think Akismet will be installed here you are dreaming

  6. @AZ,

Maybe the voters would prefer to have a conventional runoff. What is your compulsion for instant runoff voting, and quantizing support.

Note in Redondo Beach, that only the mayoral race had a large number of candidates. Two of the city council races had two candidates, and one had three.

primaries have become testing grounds for extremist laws and worse tyrants.

Legis bodies are almost extinct due to scotus upholding legislative/judicial powers in execs/bureaucrats –the super-deep STATE

    thus
    ONE Election Day
PR – REAL democracy in legislative bodies
    APPV – nonpartisan execs/judics
    TOTSOP
    —–
basic 2 things reducing total nonstop tyrants and wars –
    majority rule and SOP

  8. @AZ,

What do primaries have to do with a runoff?

Are legislative/executive/judicial (any others?) totally separate if there are checks and balances?

  9. jr–

nooo extremist primaries needed or wanted – with or without primary runoffs >>> shorter election seasons

totally separate LEJ powers are automatic *** checks and balances ***

ALL of the current SOP violations are instant const crises –
congress impeachments – Prez vetoes / pardons – etc

due to carrying over many rotted Brit SOP violations into 1776 state consts
