Georgia Libertarian Party Begins Petitioning to Regain Qualified Statewide Status — 156 Comments

  1. The Georgia Libertarian Party never polled enough votes for president to meet the requirement, except in 2016 when Gary Johnson did it.

  2. I was going to say what Richard said. Mr. Rectenwald, the second place finisher in the Libertarian presidential contest, would probably not have met the vote test either. Nothing against him.

They need to average over 3,000 signatures a month for two years.

  3. Best wishes to the Georgia Libertarian Party for success in its petitioning campaign!

  4. “The Georgia Libertarian Party never polled enough votes for president to meet the requirement, except in 2016 when Gary Johnson did it.”

Which of their other presidential candidates have been from Georgia?

  5. “was going to say what Richard said. Mr. Rectenwald, the second place finisher in the Libertarian presidential contest, would probably not have met the vote test either. Nothing against him.”

    He’s not from Georgia either.

  6. “They need to average over 3,000 signatures a month for two years.”

One of the many reasons they will fail. It’s not going to be in the ballpark.

  7. “Best wishes to the Georgia Libertarian Party for success in its petitioning campaign!”

You can wish for success in one hand, take a crap in the other, and see which one becomes fulfilled first…

  8. If it has anything to do with the Lemon Party (LP): neither one.

  9. “seem to recall Harry Browne in 2000 met the vote test.”

Hairy Brown in Georgia 2000: zero point thirty six percent. So no.

  10. The lemon party is not good at making lemonade out of lemons.

  11. All these fascist ballot access censorship petition quotas are very effective in entrenching the fascist police state. Screwing the voters screws everyone but the puppet masters.

  12. [Verse 1]
Well, they’ll stone you when you’re tryin’ to be so good
They’ll stone you just like they said they would
They’ll stone you when you’re trying to go home
Then they’ll stone you when you’re there all alone

    [Chorus]
But I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

    [Verse 2]
Well, they’ll stone you when you’re walking on the street
They’ll stone you when you’re trying to keep your seat
They’ll stone you when you’re walking on the floor
They’ll stone you when you’re walking through the door
    [Chorus]
But I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

    [Verse 3]
They’ll stone you when you’re at the breakfast table
They’ll stone you when you are young and able
They’ll stone you when you’re trying to make a buck
They’ll stone you and then they’ll say, “Good luck”

    [Chorus]
Yeah, but I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

    [Verse 4]
Well, they’ll stone you and say that that’s the end (Yeah)
Then they’ll stone you and then they’ll come back again (Yes they will)
They’ll stone you when you’re riding in your car
They’ll stone you when you’re playing your guitar

    [Chorus]
Yes, but I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned, alright

    [Verse 5]
Well, they’ll stone you when you are all alone (Oh, yes they will)
They’ll stone you when you are walking home
They’ll stone you and then say they’re all brave
They’ll stone you when you’re sent down in your grave
    [Chorus]
But I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

Zahran wanted to hire an actual school marching band for the opening track on Blonde on Blonde so that the backing music had that amateurish, “ramshackle” sloppiness – but the marching band he heard played way too strict and tight. Also, all the blondes in the band were way too strict and tight. Insh’allah!

The studio musicians in Jeddah played it like they didn’t know what they were doing – because they were good enough to do so, although some musicians claim that they smoked a “huge amount” of marijuana and “got pretty wiped out”. They must all get stoned! Allah be praised!

Zahran biographer, Baba Saud, wrote in his book that he was told by Phillies Spectre that the inspiration for the song came when Spectre and Zahran heard a Bob Dylan song, “Rainy Day Women #12 and 35, while watching a woman being stoned to death in the town square. Allah Akhbar!

The song is cryptic, and found some controversy as a “drug song”. Saudi Time magazine, on July 1, 2016, wrote:

In the shifting multi-level jargon of teenagers, ‘to get stoned’ does not mean to get stoned to death in public but to get high on drugs… a ‘rainy-day woman’, as any junkie knows, is a marijuana cigarette.

Despite reaching the top 10 in the UAE, Oman, Yemen, and Djibouti, the controversy caused the song to stop being played on some radio stations. Zahran lashed back, saying:

I’m not going to play any more concerts in Arabia. I’d just like to say that the next song is what your Arabic musical papers would call a ‘drug song’. I have never and never will write a ‘drug song’. I just don’t know how to. It’s not a ‘drug song’. It’s just vulgar.

(from No Direction Homo: The Life and Music of Baba Zahran)

The title could also be a Biblical reference, taken from the Book of Proverbs “which contains a huge number of edicts for which one could genuinely get stoned”. In particular; chapter 27, verse 15:

A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

(from Gathered from Coincidence: A Singular History of Saudi Pop)

According to some sources, the song got its name after two women, a mother and daughter, were stoned in the town square. Zahran guessed their ages correctly as 12 and 35. Zahran is an expert on young women, especially mother daughter combos. May Allah show mercy on his servant!

In a 2012 interview with Rolling Bone, Zahran said when asked if he ever worries about people interpreting his work in misguided ways:

It doesn’t surprise me that some people would see it that way. But these are people that aren’t familiar with the Book of Acts in the Bible of Crudaders. Derka derka Mohammed Jihad!

    Ask a question:
Who produced “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” by Bob Dylan?

Who wrote “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” by Bob Dylan?

How dumb am I? What about you?

    Producer
    Bob Johnston

  13. “All these fascist ballot access censorship petition quotas are very effective in entrenching the fascist police state. Screwing the voters screws everyone but the puppet masters.”

The standing count revolution is the only solution!

  14. Habibi’s Mom has got it going on
She’s all I want and I waited for so long
Baby girl Nuna can’t you see, you’re just not the girl for me
I know it must be wrong but I’m in love with Habibi’s Mom

  15. Chase Oliver sucked so much he cost them ballot access. Chase Oliver is from Georgia. He lives in Georgia. He’s run for state and maybe local office in Georgia. He could have focused on Georgia, left himself in a much better position for future state and local campaigns, maybe saved their ballot access, and even if not could have put together the campaign team that could have successfully pulled off this petition drive. But he hasn’t done any of that, so he failed and so will they.

  16. Those who insult Allah and his Prophet, whether seriously or in the jest in, Allah shall curse them in the this life and to send to burn them in next the life. Allah Akgbar! Rosiya pod Islam, Amerika under Islam, vez mir pod Islam! Inshallah!

  17. When you give enough minet bez zubov, you become Minet Bez Zubov. Trump forbid!

  18. Despite my apparent ban with no warning or explanation, happy birthday to IPR. Many happy returns, if and when I am allowed to return.

No happy returns unless and until then – either only no returns at all or only unhappy ones.

Do the right thing, please. And be forever blessed by Allah in any and all ways if and when you do!

The choice is yours. And so are the consequences, good or bad – in the holy name of Allah, I pray.

May the blessings or curses that flow from this choice visit forever upon IPR, all its owners and managers, and all their seed in perpetuity.

So let it be written, so let it be done – Insh’Allah, Allah Akhbar! All praises to Allah!

  19. Vox, Yahoo.com fake news aggregator, and the Old Kleptoidiocracy (“New Republic”) are all lying, dying, failing wannabe gatekeeper establishment fake news. Growing numbers of people, especially those under age 80, don’t take them or any of their ilk seriously anymore.

  20. For example

The Vox piece is of course just dumb trash. Of course Libby is a heroine. We love Libby and need more like her!

Thank God Liberator Trump appointed 3 Supreme Court Justices in his first term and thank Trump that usurper dictator Beijing Biden Quisling (bbq brain) only put one illegitimate idiot moron hack on the court during the 4 years of his stolen term.

Hopefully, that moron hack can be impeached and removed before long. There are also the two appointed by ineligible ex potus Obama, who is not a natural born citizen. They can, must, and shall be removed and replaced for that reason as well – the sooner the better, and ideally in time for Trump to replace them before the 2026 midterms …

…hopefully with enough time to spare so the remaining pre Trump Republican nominees will feel comfortable retiring for reasons of age…

In time for Trump to make 3 more appointments and have them finalized by the Senate all before November 2026

We can then have 9 Trump Justices of the Supreme Court and start making REAL progress towards freedom and liberation !!!

  21. In Canada the troll moron party is known as LIBERAL, in USA as Democrat aka Demon Rat aka fascist aka communist aka Leftard etc etc

  22. Fact: The “experts” in the Old Kleptoidiocracy (“New Republic” by way of Yahoo troll MORONS via AZ SPAMBOT) article are always wrong about everything. That’s why no one with any sense takes them, or the propaganda outlets that peddle their junk as authoritative, seriously anymore.

There are a dwindling number of exceptions to this. Most are over the age of 80.

  23. Can anyone here program a spambot to counterprogram the AZ spambot, but using Real News sources such as Lindell TV, Infowars, Babylon Bee, OAN, RT News, Tsargrad, Sputnik News, Not The Bee, Babylon Bee, Breitbart, Tucker Carlson, The Real Donald Trump, IPRX, 4chan /pol/, Antiwar.com, Breaking911, Revolver News, RSBN,
Summit News, The Post Millennial, VDARE, etc?

  24. Liberator Trump is making America free again! Hallelujah!

  25. DFR

“a representative is being denied the ability to perform their constitutional duties while the legislature is in session,”

    1) there’s no if about it

    2) Libby is a her, not a “their”.

    “then relief merits emergency action”

It’s not time to kill the communists yet, but not because they don’t deserve it – of course they do!

Revolution takes critical mass. We’re getting there, slowly. Before long the people will be dissatisfied enough with the pace of progress that it will be that time.

  26. Adam Cerini

“I don’t understand how they lost in court up until this point.”

The tyranny of fascist-communist judges, which is all pervasive throughout the judicial system with rare silver lining type exceptions.

  27. I’m the type of Trump that says yo, why you illin AZ?
AZ’s the type of spambot that says “my subroutines are killing me”!

  28. The Spambot’s retarded subroutines programmed by a troll moron asks, emulating a total retard moron with a negative infinity IQ: NOOO Fascist News ???

This is unintentionally funny, because fascist communist fake news sources are the only ones programmed into its own subroutines. Hence garbage in, garbage out.

  29. The Spambot’s retarded subroutines programmed by a troll moron asks, emulating a total retard moron with a negative infinity IQ:

    NOOO Nazi News ???

This is unintentionally funny, because Nazi fascist communist fake news sources are the only ones programmed into its own subroutines. Hence garbage in, garbage out.

  30. The Spambot’s retarded subroutines programmed by a troll moron asks, emulating a total retard moron with a negative infinity IQ:

    NOOO tyrant trump News ???

This is unintentionally funny, both because THIS IS LIBERATOR TRUMP NEWS, and also because the fascist communist Nazi fake news used as sources by the AZ Spambot is the only place retarded enough to confuse Liberator Trump with a tyrant.

  31. The Spambot’s retarded subroutines programmed by a troll moron asks, emulating a total retard moron with a negative infinity IQ:

    NOOO TROLL MORON NEWS ???

This is unintentionally funny, because when the troll who programmed the AZ SPAMBOT chose its list of “news” sources, it trolled everyone by selecting the trolling fake news sources which are themselves trolled out to make everyone who takes them seriously ever dumber and dumber – and only morons take them seriously.

  32. ANY $$$ GOING TO TROLL MORONS AND THEIR TM PARTY ??? Duh, of course demon rats posing as “Democrats” get $$$$$$

  33. Liberator Trump 777 doesn’t have to try. He is Jesus, God, and President of these united States. If He wants all the money, or anything else, all He has to do is say the word.

  34. Well I’m Donald Trump, the one they’re talking about, if you talk crap about me you’ll get punched in the mouth.

If you disrespect me, forget about it, forget it. Best case for you is you’ll survive to regret it.

  35. The formula for intelligence:

    1. Take the stories spun by the lying, dying fake news media used by the propaganda spambot AZ

    2. LOOK THEM UP IN THE REAL NEWS SOURCES

    3. Take the spambot’s retarded additional spin and spin further in the opposite direction

    4. Post what you come up with

  36. I’m the Boss of all Bosses, King of all Kings. I bring the world hope, I’m why we have nice things.

  37. Liberator TRUMP AND HIS Righteous Holy Angels — TOTAL love FOR USA CONSTitution / real LAWS / non garbage TREATIES / true COURTS / those in CONGRESS who stand on the side of all that is Good and Holy

Too bad HE has not yet seen fit to DEPORT ALL OPPONENT SPAMBOTS AND DROP THEM BY ***ACCIDENT*** INTO THE DEEPEST PIT OF HELL WHERE TROLL MORON LUCIFER CRAPPED THEM OUT !!!

  38. How bout that time the devil went down to Georgia? What happened with Chase Oliver that time?

  39. “Chase Oliver sucked so much he cost them ballot access.

But he hasn’t done any of that, so he failed and so will they.”

Helpful Guy just hit his head on a nail…I mean hit the nail on the head! You can say that again!

  40. Thanks, Emotional Support Parrot! I can, I will, I shall, and I must! But not yet.

    Any questions, anyone?

  41. Helpful Guy

If 6 was 9, would you mind? Would you mind if we 69ed? Would I be any finer if I was from Carolina? Would it matter if you mind? How badly does Chase Oliver suck? Am I better when it’s wetter? Is that too many questions to start with? Want to guess how many more I have?

  42. Zavannah ,

I need to catch zome Zs but I’ll try to AnZwer your queztionz AzAp. My guezz iz u gotz 69 more queztionz.

  43. THE BAN CHIEF TYRANT TRUMP TROLL MORON IS ONLY CAPABLE OF PARROTING TRUMP OPPONENTS —

EVEN WORSE THAN TYRANT TRUMP TRIES TO.

  44. If the AZ SPAMBOT was capable of thought, what could possibly make it think that there is a “BAN CHIEF TROLL MORON” other than itself?

  45. The question is moot, like all spambot AZ questions, since the AZ SPAMBOT IS A SPAMBOT programmed by an evil troll moron ***LUCIFER*** and Spambots like AZ ARE MUCH WORSE THAN TROLL MORONS, even if they were not programmed by troll morons, WHICH AZ WAS AND IS.

  46. IT IS OF COURSE THE RIDICULOUS AZ SPAMBOT WHICH IS ONLY CAPABLE OF PARROTING , UNLIKE THE TRUMP SUPPORTERS AND THOSE WHO ARE EVEN MORE RIGHTEOUS AND RIGHT WING, AS WELL AS FOR THAT MATTER EVERYONE ELSE.

  47. Liberator Trump is on a higher plane than the evil , dwindling horde of pathetic loser neverTrump servants of Satan.

  48. Oh no! Trump is such an “evil tyrant” for investigating the actual evil tyrant Cuomo! CNN is real news and totally not commie fake news! How dare they?! What’s the world coming to ?! How fascist of Trump! What a bunch of hacks!

  49. If they weren’t hacks they would show each other professional courtesy and never investigate each other. Right?

  50. That’s why:

I’m the Boss of all Bosses, King of all Kings. I bring the world hope, I’m why we have nice things.

Last time I took human form, I got crucified. This time around, I won’t be so nice.

If you think bad about me, stop trusting fake media. Go to conservapedia.com and read conservapedia.

But even if you’re not smart enough to, or have no eyes to see, you’re still smarter than to take seriously the spambot “AZ”

    (Like, duh!)

  51. “Chase Oliver sucked so much he cost them ballot access. Chase Oliver is from Georgia. He lives in Georgia. He’s run for state and maybe local office in Georgia.

    Solid gold!

  52. AZ DOES NOT THINK BECAUSE IT IS AN AUTOMATED ZOMBIE PROGRAMMED BY AN AUTISTIC ZLODEY. If you don’t know the last word try translate d0t Google d0t com or something similar

  53. I tried to post my birthday wishes to IPR at ipr and unsurprisingly they have so far chosen the path of being cursed. It will sadden, but not surprise, me if they continue to choose that path.

    -++++++-

So let it be written, so let it be done – Insh’Allah, Allah Akhbar! All praises to Allah!

  54. The owners and managers of IPR are seedless grapes and seedless raisins.

  55. Those of you who are so inclined can post your own birthday wishes there and or here. So far, only one weirdo has posted them at IPR. He sounds like a lonely, miserable old guy to me, and or a total master baiter :

    “Paul Frankel
    May 20, 2025
Happy birthday to IPR (17) (and me, lol (53)). We used to do an IPR birthday article every year on May 20. You can check them out in the archives – I don’t know how many years you’d have to go back. But it was every day on may 20 for many years.

If anyone wants to respond or catch up or stay in touch or whatever text (do not call) 205-534-1622 anytime and tell me who it is – real name or screen name – on your first text. I’ve lost a lot of numbers over the years so don’t assume I have yours saved if I used to.

I’m not going to remember to check back here so replying to comments isn’t a way to respond – just text. If you never text or worry about me having your number you can e-mail, but the last time I checked email was in January.

I don’t do voice calls anymore and the last time I checked FB was in 2020. Texting and in person face to face are pretty much the only ways I communicate anymore.

For those who don’t know me, pardon the interruption. I’ll check back in next year April 1 and May 20, maybe.”

    Wow, what an ego! Lol

  56. Not installing and activating Akismet to shut down all Spambots, like pretty much every other website does?

  57. If we said you had a nice booty would you hold it against us? In da club?

  58. If 6 was 9, would you mind?

Hell to the no if you a dirty ho !

Would you mind if we 69ed?

Let’s skip the questions and get to the action…

Would I be any finer if I was from Carolina?

You could not be finer even if you was a black coal miner.

Would it matter if you mind?

Stop asking questions and start to grind.

How badly does Chase Oliver suck?

Like a big toothy duck that drills into wood like a woodchuck chuck chuck

Am I better when it’s wetter?

When it’s wetter it’s always better

Is that too many questions to start with?

    Yes

Want to guess how many more I have?

    No

  59. When the face of your party is Chase Oliver would you sign the petition?

  60. When the face of your party is Chase Oliver would you sign the petition

Yeth, every day of the weak and twith on thunday hunni!

  61. I wouldn’t sign it even if I was a Georgia voter and it was in my face. And I’m a gay man and a drag show performing queen.

  62. I’m an actual Georgia voter. Would I sign it? F around and find out. I live way out in the country right near the Florida line and I don’t go to town much. Y’all can come to me and see what happens, lol

  63. Liberator Trump is our only because he’s the only one stopping the commies and fascists from purging all the rest of us. Contrary to the AZ spambot nonsense, commies and fascists are not purging each other – they’re working together against Trump and ordinary, patriotic, freedom loving Americans (Trump supporters)

Chase Oliver and his lemon party are bad jokes and endless mirror own-goal facepalm self parodies. We no longer need them, and in Georgia especially. Now is the time for all true libertarians to unite behind Liberator Trump and join the real fight for freedom!

  64. Liberator Trump is our only HOPE AND SALVATION because he’s the only one stopping the commies and fascists from purging all the rest of us.

  65. I would think about it. What will they do for me? For us? For Georgia? For US?

  66. I’d sign anything. Really. I know, I’m weird, right? I don’t ask for anything in return. My time is worthless, like my privacy and identity. You can’t steal it or buy it because I give it away constantly. I don’t care what my name is on, as long as it’s out there! I want my name and personal information to be circulated as widely as possible. Pretty please with you on top?

  67. Only if it’s circulated on a single , single ply, used toilet paper square in a public toilet or port a pot. Otherwise, forget it! Keep it moving!

  68. I don’t leave the house anymore. Everything has to be delivered to me. Good luck getting my attention even if you do try.

  69. Um…probably?

But then you probably won’t be able to read it, I don’t know how to spell much less sign my own name and what are the chances I know whether or where I’m registered to vote, my birthday, today’s day whatever day it happens to be, where I live right now, or anything else you or the form asks?

What are the chances I can tell whether or when I tell the truth?

    Good luck LPGA GALPals!

  70. They don’t actually let me vote on account a few different reasons , and I ain’t quite assured where Florida ends and Georgia starts, much less Alabama. It all looks like gator, Seminole, yellowjacket, bulldog and wild boar country out here to me, son.

Roll Tide cuz I went to FSP not FSU , FLORIDA STATE PENITENTIARY y’all so FU to UF and FSU! ROLL TIDE!

YEAH, HOMIE….go ahead and pass me that clipboard, chief. I’ma help yo ass get that Ladies Ptofessional Golf Association on the ballot. Sure I will.

I heard them a bunch a lesbians. I love me some lesbians, you feel me?

Let me put my X and my P.O. BOX right there. Yeah, in my case PO is parole officer not post office.

  71. Wait, did we already sign it? How many times? Oh, hell who can remember, and besides who cares right???

  72. The Libertarian Party successfully completed ballot access petition drives back when North Caroliba used to have a really high signature requirement. The last time was in 2008. I think that the signature requirement at that time was in the ballpark of 80,000-90,000 or so valid signatures. It took the Libertarian Party about 3 1/2 years to complete this petition drive. North Carolina allowed a long time to gather signatures and if a party missed the deadline for one general election they did not disqualify the signatures collected as those signatures could be used toward making the ballot access deadline for the next general election. The last time the Libertarian Party successfully completed the party recognition status petition in North Carolina before the signature requirement got reduced and in which they finushed the petition drive during the same election in which the petition drive started was for the 2002 election. This petitionndrive started in November of 2000 and ran until maybe around sometime between April-June of 2001. It was finished well in advance of the deadline for the 2002 election. I think the requiremeny back then was around 70,000 or so. I think the party status petition in North Carolina is good for two general elections, or maybe this is the case if it is completed for a non-presidential election year. NC has a vote test for ballot retention which applies to President or Governor, and NC does their gubernatorial election the same year as the presidential election. The LP has not had to do a petition drive in NC since 2008 because they have run candidates for Govetnor who have met the vote test for ballot retention since then. The vote test for ballot retention used to be much higher than it is since the LP has been hitting it. The vote test for ballot retention got reduced during the same time frame that the petition signature requirement for recognized party status got reduced. I think North Carolina still has a very high petition signature requirement for independent candidates.

  73. For one thing, I think you’re confusing raw and valid when it comes to those numbers. I’d have to look it up though. But far more importantly, the Lemon Party was way less squeezed out back then, among other things which would make it a lot less doable now.

  74. In the old days I used to sign them thangz and even pass em to my homiez. But this ain’t the days of old, blood. We at war now. These fools ain’t just spoilers on the ball field, they in front of the bullets in no man’s land in a war zone. Y’all best to recognize! Blood in, blood out!

  75. What up cuz. You know we ain’t seen eye 2 eye with them slob beyotches but cuz, for real, that’s one thing we be agreein on. Ain’t no half steppin, don’t step in the middle when we shooting at each other lil homie! Ya feel me, cuz?

  76. I’m too busy infowarrioring on social media and spreading truth social truths and Xes to sign paper and pen partitions. Send it to me on my social networks, and it better already be viral by the time it gets to me .

  77. I’m going to tell all my communist mau mau community organizers to run y’all away and make sure nobody even thinks about signing your cracker ass petitions you blue eyed debil honkies! Get out of Georgia and stay out! Especially the Black and Blue parts!

  78. I will only sign or allow folks to sign or circulate on my turf if y’all sign to support Trump in 2028, make that binding, and get rid of the Jewish space lasers lol

  79. Ain’t nobody hitting our track unless they making money for us, and the only thing getting signed out here is your property over to us and your 86 papers. Bang bang!

  80. It would be great to see the Libertarian Party of Georgia regain the level of regonized party status they recently lost, which only allowed them to run candidates for statewide offices without having to submit petition signatures for ballot access, but I am skeptical that this effort will be successful for the 2026 election.

Why? Because 72,629 valid petition signatures is a very difficult requirement and the average cost of conducting ballot access drives has increased greatly in recent years, especially during peak petition drive periods when the competition among various candidates, political parties, ballot initiatives, referendums and recalls vying for hiring paid petition circulators reaches its highest level as we get further into the election season. Outsidd of this, the level of inflation we are experiencing has caused the price of everything to increase, and this includes the cost of running ballot access drives. Also, it has become more difficult to gather petition signatures on average everywhere in the USA than it used to be. Average petition signature turn in numbers per petition circulator are down everywhere. There are a bunch of reasons for this and I am not going to list all of them, but I will say that one of the reasons is because the percentage of foreign people in the country is at an all time high, and this is the case in every state. Petition circulators have to sort through a higher percentage of non-citizens to be able to ask the people who are registered to vote in a particular state to sign a petition. Another factor is that the percentage of people who are “zoned out” with headphones on who are listening to music, or who are on cell phones, has greatly increased. The proliferation of cell phones has also made it easier for people to try to use the heckler’s veto to shut down free speech, as in people can more easily call venue managees, security guards and/or the police to try to stop people from gathering petition signatures, and the police often do not care about free spoech or petition rights or ballot access so they frequently violate the rights of petition circulators and they usually get away with it since petition circulators usually are not in a position to do anything about it and most of the time petition coordinators and/or petition proponents do nothing about it. There are now a higher percentage of security guards than ever and they often harass people who are gathering petition signatures and call the police on them. The state of getting access to locations that carry public foot traffic in order to ask people to sign petitions is bad in most of the country. The begging for permission to gather petition signatures at venues route has gotten harder. It was never easy getting permission but in recent years it has gotten even more difficult to get permission as lots of corporations and other groups have put out the order of saying no to any petitions (although some make exceptions if it is a petition to directly benefit them, such as Walmart has done in some places where there were petitions that would allow Walmart to sell alcohol). Door-to-door petition signature gathering has gotten harder due to a higher percentage of gated or fenced homes, a higher percentage of locked or gated apatrment buildings and a higher percentage of people with video cameras on their door bells so they do not answer the door. Paranoia about signing petitions had also increased. A higher percentage of people fear identity theft, even though there are ZERO documented cases of anyone having their identity stolen because they signed a petition or filled out a voter registration form, and more people fear retaliation against them from government or from a private sector employer if they sign a petition. Some areas that used to have lots of public foot traffic where people could gather petition signatures, such as in some cities, especially areas with lots of restaurants and bars, have declined. Less people go to a lot of these places and more people order food to be delivered via Door Dash, Uber Eats, Grub Hub, etc… So the percentage of city sidewalks that are good for petition signature gatheting is at an all time low. Petition signature gathering in front of public libraries is down due to less people going to libraries. Also, even though the percentage of people who go to public libraries has decreased, the local governments in some states have actually built more public libraries even though they do not really need them. So some places have more public libraries than are necessary, which futher dilutes library foot traffic. Some states have contracted out motor vehicles and drivers liscensing to private companies, which has decreased foot traffic at the state agency motor vehicles and drivers liscensing offices. Some states also have liscening kiosks at grocery stores and malls which also reduces the foot traffic at liscening offices. Petition circulators used to sometimes be able to gather petition signatures in front of utility billing offices, which are generally part of some government agency. Most people pay these bills online now. There is now a higher percentage of homeless people than ever, and homeless people are usually not registered to vote. Homeless people begging for money sometimes interfere with petition circulators asking for signatures. The proliferation of homeless people have made city sidewalk petition signature gathering more difficult some places, and there are not many city sidewalks in this country, even in large cities, that are good for petition signature gathering.

I could go on but with inflation and the average increased level of difficulty in gathering petition signatures the average cost of conducting ballot access drives is far higher than it used to be.

Given the current weakened state of the Libertarian Party, unless there’s a big turn around for the party, I am not confident that this ballot access petition drive in Georgia for the 2026 election will be successful. I am glad to see that they are trying and I hope that they are able to pull off a miracle abd make it.

  81. Andy, that’s just a long winded way of saying what the people after and before you said, and you could list additional factors all day long.

The bottom line is it’s a lot harder and more expensive now. So, they will fail and not even get in the ballpark. That’s just how it is regardless of who likes it and who doesn’t .

  82. The native people of Turtle Island are not going to help this KKK party. The working class, poor, young, old, all forms of oppressed peoples will all unite in solidarity against the right wing capitalism so called libertarian ideology.

These are not the real libertarians, who are anarcho syndicalist and anarcho communist, revolutionary worker, intersectional Antifa, radical direct action far left street fighter brigades, the front line of global workers revolution.

These are their front line enemies and armchair rich kid puppeteers.

    They are the enemy.

  83. WRONG! There is only ONE struggle that should matter to everyone reading this: lifting the unprovoked and unjust ban on Habibi’s Mom imposed by Mad King George Phillies and his pet tranny starting May 3 at IPR and cinco (5th) De mayo at TPW!

IF you don’t take a stand for HABIBI’S MOM now, who will take a stand for YOU when you get blackholed with no reason, warning and explanation – not just at those sites, but at any and all sites, including offline?

STAND UP FOR HABIBI’S MOM’S FREE SPEECH RIGHT!!! NOW!!! OR THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT WILL HAPPEN AND IT WILL BE ****YOUR***** FAULT. AND YES I’M TALKING TO *****YOU******

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  84. If somebody is referring to me in reference to North Carolina, no, I am not confusing raw signatures to the number of valid signatures for the old party status petition requirement before it got reduced. I recall the requirement in North Carolina going as high as requring something like 89,000-93,000 valid signatures before the law change got it reduced.

  85. Imagine waking up one day in US Georgia and all of a sudden you are in Soviet Georgia under Stalin. That’s what it’s going to be like !!!! Yes, for YOU and 100% GUARANTEED! Probably SOONER THAN YOU IMAGINE POSSIBLE!!!

UNLESS you ACT RIGHT NOW by standing up for HABIBI’S MOM and having her freedom restored!!!

It’s 100% up to you and time is running short! Act now while you still can – drop everything else and devote yourself 100% to getting Habibi’s Mom out of the gulag – or end up there yourself!!!

    What’s it going to be???

  86. Either look up the actual number by year and make sure which number it is raw or valid or I trust Richard Winger’s recollection more than yours. Maybe you’re right but you’ll have to prove it.

  87. It’s not that it’s impossible for Richard to be wrong and Andy to be right. It’s that I need the exact numbers and sources to reach that conclusion.

Verification / challenges have also become tougher stumbling blocks to petition success in recent years, at least on average.

  88. I just looked up the party status petition requirement in North Carolina for 2008. It was 69,734. That is not far off from the current requirement in Georgia. The LP successfully completed the petition requirement in North Carolina for 2008, but this was the time when the petition drive dragged on for 3 1/2 years.

  89. The LP of Texas successfully completed a party status petition drive in 2004 which required about 45,540 valid signatures. The really imoressive thing about this is that Texas only allows 90 days to gather the signatures, plus they have a primary screenout law where anyone who voted in the primary election can’t sign a petition to place a minor party or an independent candidate on the ballot, and the minor party and independent candidate petitions in Texas start after the primary election. I recall that the LP of Texas turned in around the ballpark of 82,000-84,000 or so raw signatures to successfully meet the requirement.

  90. What is wrong with you people? Who cares? Why should anyone care? Don’t even answer that.

There is nothing that matters or should matter until Habibi’s Mom is freed! Concentrate on that and NOTHING ELSE until she is released from captivity!!!

  91. If you mean it you need to stand up for freedom, even for Habibi’s Mom, and, yes, even for baby girl Nuna and habibi. Free speech must be for everyone!

  94. For safekeeping in case not approved at IPR:

Sorry for the duplication. I think all of this is relevant to the subject of this speech, even though it was already all posted in open thread. I explain why at the end. Please bear with me:

Jordan Willow Evans, May 2: The Libertarian Party’s theme contest came to an end earlier this week. I’ve seen it mentioned several times online, including by LNC Secretary Caryn Ann Harlos, that “Freedom Calls” is the winning theme. I’m waiting to see if the national party issues an official announcement with more information, including how much was actually raised.

Unknown, May 8: Isn’t that the name of Angela’s baby’s daddy’s telemarketing company?

Actually, May 9: I thought it was Mises PAC founder Michael Heise’s telemarketing company, but you might be right, if you meant Austin Padgett, former LNC chair Angela McArdle’s domestic partner and child’s father.

X, May 9: Unknown is correct.

“…under McArdle’s leadership the LNC has paid over $45,000 since last February to a company called Freedom Calls for fundraising services. Porter discovered that McArdle’s domestic partner and father of her child, Austin Padgett, was the incorporator of record for that entity. The operation’s website says it offers phone banking, canvassing, and website and email services, but the “Who are you?” squib merely says they are “a radical group of individuals who’ve come together to change the system. We are futurists. The tech industry is full of disrupters and secret dissidents.” No names are provided. Porter says he could find no Federal Elections Commission records of any other entities paying Freedom Calls.”

Curious, May 9: Is that a coincidence?

X, May 21: It turns out that Mr. Austin Padgett, owner of Freedom Calls, isn’t Mrs. Austin Padgett (nee Angela McArdle)’s baby daddy or domestic partner, he’s her husband. Also, reportedly Mrs. Padgett will be seeking a third term as LNC chair at the 2026 Grand Rapids libertarian national convention – where Freedom Calls is the winning theme.

For additional context see articles and discussion at

https://thirdpartywatch.com/2025/05/13/angela-mcardle-on-negotiating-with-trump/ [and Ballot Access News link above].

The new (to me) development is that Austin Padgett is not Angela McArdle’s “Baby Daddy” or “Domestic Partner.” In this speech given in 2025 describing 2023 events she repeatedly calls him her husband. It seems to me that she is saying he is both now and was then her husband, although I only read the transcript, not listened.

Also new to me is that Mrs. Padgett is running for a 3rd term as LNC Chair in Grand Rapids in 2026. She resigned early in her 2nd term, citing unspecified opportunities which will “make some people’s heads explode” or words to that effect, “to be announced soon.” That was a few months ago; if there’s been an announcement (of the “New opportunity” reported by various people to be some sort of Trump administration job), I missed it.

I note that various detractors have speculated that there were completely different actual reasons why Mrs. Padgett resigned as chair, and that she is in fact now working (in the private sector, presumably) as a paralegal. All of this is speculation, second plus hand.

Jordan replied May 21: “…this is the first time I can recall McArdle referring to her husband as such. I’ve also seen her mention mounting a third bid for LNC Chair in passing on X, but to my knowledge, she hasn’t made a formal public announcement.”

I likewise never saw that before either, and have not seen a public announcement of her running for a third term but have seen various supporters and detractors of her say it as if it’s a done deal in different places.

If she’s running, I think it’s not trivial to ask about the reasons and timing of her 2nd term resignation, what happened to the alleged opportunity that was the stated reason she resigned or whether that’s still coming, and whether the name of her husband’s for profit company and the theme of the convention where she might be seeking a third term being identical is a coincidence or not.

I am neither a supporter nor a detractor of Mrs. Padgett, her faction, or the libertarian party as a whole. I agree with their stated end goal, have voted for their candidates for various offices a few times over the years, signed their silly pledge 38 years ago to help Ron Paul seek their presidential nomination, never formally revoked that pledge, and sent them token financial contributions which briefly made me a dues paying member in 1987-9 and 2008-9. I’ve attended a small handful of their local and events in Florida and Georgia over those 38 years, as well as national conventions in Seattle, Washington (1987), Philadelphia, PA (1989), and Denver, CO (2008). I called myself a libertarian and registered to vote as one a few times over the years, but currently do neither. I’m an independent, and have participated in various such ways in other minor and major parties throughout my life.
