On September 12, the Fourth Circuit issued an opinion in North Carolina A. Philip Randolph Institute v North Carolina State Board of Elections, 24-1512. It agrees with the lower court that North Carolina’s felon disenfranchisement law violates the Fourteenth Amendment, based on its history. The decision is by Judge DeAndrea Gist Benjamin (a Biden appointee), and is signed by Judges James A. Wynn and Pamela A. Harris (Obama appointees).

Even the so-called “innocent, exonerated” criminals are almost all either let out on technicalities or career criminals who got away with countless other crimes they were never caught for. What about all their innocent victims, their families, friends , neighbors, and all the innocent people living in fear of crime, especially in high crime communities ???
The case was not about felony disenfranchisement per se, but rather a statute that made it a crime for felons to vote.
Presumably, North Carolina could ask potential registrants whether they were a felon, and prosecute them for perjury.
