Republican Party Sues to Keep the Name of a Missing (and Presumed Dead) Democratic Party Candidate on a New York Ballot

The missing man is Petros Krommidas, 29, who was running for the Nassau County, New York legislature. The Republican Party is taking some (well derserved, in my opinion) criticism for this lawsuit.

  2. This is obviously an attempt to manipulate the election to help a Republican.

    In the early 1970s, a Judge in Los Angeles County died after he had qualified for the
    ballot in his re-election bid. The Los Angeles Times endorsed and urged a vote for the dead Judge,
    because they thougt the other candidate was unqualified.

  11. Party lines on a general election ballot should be considered the property of the party, and the decision of whether or not to withdraw a candidate’s name should be made by the party.

    The underlying problem is the long lag time between filing and the election. If board members were elected in March before taking office a few days later there would not be a problem like this.

    Since he is still considered missing, the law was interpreted correctly. Hopefully, he will be found soon and alive. Reading the plight of the family is excruciating.

President Trump’s policies have helped me and my family through some hard times. I would love to retire but cannot. I was in the verge of bankruptcy under Biden.

  33. The above comment is an imposter. I retired on December 20th 2024 and stopped working completely on July 4th 2025. Before retiring I had no financial troubles of any kind. At present I am in good financial shape with Social Security as my sole source of income.
