According to this New York Post article, Steve Hilton, one of the two active Republicans running for Governor of California, has raised more campaign contributions than any other candidate running for California Governor. However, Tom Steyer, a Democratic running for California Governor, has a bigger campaign chest because he is a billionaire and is funding his own campaign.

It would be poetic justice if tw9 Republicans win the Top Two Primary and the general election for Governor was Republican vs Republican. Democrats in California would freak out over this and this would cause a lot of them to turn against the Top Two Primary law.
I doubt we will be this lucky though.
My guess is that if the Democratic Party leadership thinks this might happen Democrats will flood a lot more money into the race or they will cheat, or maybe both.
