Hearing Set for May 5 on Whether to Remove Proposition 16 from the California June Ballot

A Superior Court in Sacramento, California, will hear oral argument on Wednesday, May 5, in the case on whether Proposition 16 should be removed from the California June 8, 2010 primary ballot. Proposition 16 would require a two-thirds vote of the public before any area sets up its own public electricity district. The case is before Judge Allen H. Sumner.

  1. Any absentee voters already voted on the ballots and sent them back to the regime to be counted ???

Think LACHES — too late machinations.

  2. Does anyone have more formal/official information on the basis of the lawsuit than newspaper articles like this one?

The Sacramento _Bee_ report says the plaintiffs are claiming the ballot proposal is basically a fraud concocted by PG&E — and that, in fact, “Pacific Gas and Electric Corp. Chairman Peter A. Darbee essentially admitted at a March 1 stockholders’ meeting that Proposition 16 is designed to choke off competition.”
