  2. Why do Libertarians even vote? Isn’t that like a conscientious objector applying for a gun permit?

  3. What anarchist do you know. Most L’s believe in some form of government. The danger to the two party system is that once we start to play the game, we will really shake it up.

  4. Libertarians vote because we really care about the direction of our government and nation. More Freedom, Less Government. We believe in government, just not this tremendously large and overbearing control giant who invades our individual lives at the jest of “saving us from ourselves” mentality that the Republidemocratican Party wants everyone to believe.

  5. I’m a Libertarian.

    @ BernieB: I don’t own a gun.

I’m Libertarian because I’m sick of the Gov’s wealth redistribution, ie Income Tax. Those of us who work hard, giving our time in exchange for money, get taxed so that someone who doesn’t work as hard can spend our money.

People who work hard, spending their life to provide for themselves and their family should be rewarded for doing so, NOT penalized. The current system penalizes those who produce and rewards them who do not.

The Libertarians are generally for getting rid of the Income Tax all together (and some are in favor of replacing it with the Fair Tax Plan). The Fair Tax Plan would replace Income Tax with a slightly higher sales tax.

You can’t collect Income Tax on someone who’s Income is illegal and off the books. You also can’t collect Income Tax from someone who is an Illegal Alien.

You can charge them more sales tax. So if sales tax were raised, everyone would be paying more taxes, rather than just the honest, hard working individuals who pay Income Tax.

So in this case, the sales tax wouldn’t have to increase too much to make up for the lack of Income Tax.

Plus you get to keep your whole paycheck and then you decide how much in taxes you pay based off of the stuff you buy.

ALSO, Libertarians are for shrinking the [Fed]Gov areas where Gov has no business. You shrink the amount of money the Gov can spend, then you’ll shrink the size of the business. Things that matter least will stop getting funded (Obama Care, welfare, and SS). What matters most is Military, Police, Fire Dept, and Roads.

If people are given the opportunity to stand on their own two feet like the rest of the working class, I think they’ll manage just fine. There will inevitably be some who slip through the cracks, but that’s where organized Charity comes into play, which is much less wasteful and more efficient at getting the things people need to the people that need them.
