Georgia Libertarian was Elected to City Council of Medium-Sized City Last November

On November 7, 2006, a dues-paying member of the Libertarian Party was elected to the city council of Johns Creek, Georgia. She is Karen Richardson, 41, the only African-American member of the 7-person city council. Johns Creek is a newly-incorporated city of 65,000 in the northeast corner of Fulton County. Like almost all cities in Georgia, it uses non-partisan elections. It came into existence on December 1, 2006, when six unincorporated towns merged into the new city. It is the 10th largest city in Georgia. Thanks to ThirdPartyWatch for this news.

  1. Looks like she did everything the authoritarian-conservative fruitcakes at national LP tell candidates not to do because the public is “too stupid.”

She built a following, served on advisory boards, focused on a local libertarian issue without compromise, spent moderately, and stuck to it. But the national LP says such people are ‘losers.’

All instead of following the national LP line of advocating a ‘realistic’ position like mandatory health care, ignoring advisory posts, building a big campaign fund, and aiming for a one time win. And send more money to national LP for such projects as candidate tracker, where Karen is nowhere to be found.
