According to this story, on December 17, U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman said if he runs for re-election in 2012, he will probably run as an independent, just as he did in 2006.

I don’t agree philosophically with everything Joe Lieberman stands for, but I would be thrilled to see him run again as an Independent.
He should run as an independent separate of major parties
Florida Conservative. Thanks for sharing my sentiments. Who knows, we 3rd party and independent conservatives, libertarians, populists, constitutionalists, peace and freedomites, greens, reformers, and whatever else is left over OUTSIDE the 2 major parties, may just find outselves in unity someday. Stranger things have happened.
As long as we don’t talk about drug laws, abortion or the proper role of government… you’re right!
…And Nader will beat him in a 4 candidate race.
How soon before the Donkey gangs in the gerrymander CT legislature raise ballot access requirements — especially for *independents* ???
Even though Lieberman does not agree with my political philosophy of libertarianism, it will be fantastic if he runs as an independent. 3rd parties, unite!!!
He did not run as an independent ever. He ran as the nominee of a party that he created then abandoned.
Citizen1, stop being so technical. Yes, Senator Lieberman created a 3rd party to run on, but for all practial purposes he was (and is) an “independent.” That’s the beauty of being an “independent” as I am. You can run under “created” labels and still be an “independent.”
