Canada Continues to Debate Which Parties Belong in National Candidate Debates

One of the biggest election issues in the upcoming May 2 Canadian Parliamentary election, this past week, has been the question of which party leaders should be invited into the April 12 and April 14 debates. See this editorial, which says Greens belong in the debate because the party polled 7% of the total national vote in the last election. Most editorials have been in favor of admitting the Green Party leader, Elizabeth May.

Canada Continues to Debate Which Parties Belong in National Candidate Debates — 6 Comments

  1. Its a shame that their “one” MP wasn’t an Independent switching over on the eve of the 2008 election which then lost. Sadly, I’m not sure if the Green Party in Canada is really worthy, but if they do then it can only be good for them. 0 Seats with 6.78% of the national vote is a rather difficult number to qualify though when there isn’t any other minor parties anywhere near the same level. It’ll be seen by their bigger rivals as pandering to a party without strong national support surely.

  2. Just as in the United States, the major parties don’t want 3rd parties or independents “messing” up their little scheme. Their attitude is, “you either vote for us, or not vote at all.”

  3. Canada is one more EVIL and VICIOUS ANTI-Democracy minority rule regime due to the use of single member gerrymander districts — carried over from the ANTI-Democracy gerrymander system in England in the 1760s.

The winning gang or gangs in a parliamentary coalition will get about 25 or less percent of the total votes and claim a mandate from Hell to do whatever leftwing/rightwing extremist stuff possible.

MAJOR secession stuff in Quebec and western Canada.

History note – the many rotten boroughs in the 1776 Brit House of Commons was one more major contributing factor in causing the American Revolutionary War to happen starting 19 Apr 1775 in Mass.

  4. The Greens also run candidates in almost every riding (district) in Canada, which is something that can’t be said about any other Third Party…even the Bloc Quebecois (although they’re only running candidates in Quebec).

  5. Very sad. The Canadian know-it-all media is even more brain dead than the ..

    U.S.A. media about gerrymander math.

i.e. about 20-25 percent indirect minority rule in Canada due to the 4-5 larger party hack gangs — compared to the about 30-32 percent minority rule in each gerrymander State legislatu re and the gerrymander U.S.A. House of Reps (about 10-15 percent in the gerrymander U.S.A. Senate).

P.R. and App.V. – to END the party hack INSANITY.
