The Reform Party will hold a national committee meeting in Bohemia, New York, October 21-23. The committee meeting is combined with a national party building conference. For more information, see www.reformparty.org. The national chair of the Reform Party is David Collison of Texas. The party is ballot-qualified in Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Bohemia is on the south shore of Long Island.

The Independence Parties of New York and Minnesota are not affiliated with the Reform Party. The Minnesota Reform Party changed its name back to the Independence Party, and left the Reform Party, immediately after a special national convention of the Reform Party recalled Jack Gargan as national chair. The New York Independence Party disaffiliated after the national Reform Party nominated Pat Buchanan instead of John Hagelin, in August 2000. In the November 2000 election the Independence Party of New York nominated Hagelin for President.

The meaning of the conference, IMHO, is merely to embarrass other factions in the LP style on going infinite debate while leaving a ‘paper trail’ for future court battles.
