lol!
Poor sad Greens. Whay aren’t they offering to give him their very few ballot lines as part of a united front?
My hope is that Anderson’s campaign will eclipse the failed US GP, and they will fold into a new broader progressive party.
Nothing to laugh about. Cooperation is a better way to go. Working with state and local parties in places where it could made a difference in terms of ballot access and organization in some important (and some not so important) states. The local parties don’t have to be co-opted to participate in a broader national campaign. Anderson can build up independent campaign committees and ballot lines where he needs to. I can imagine plenty of worthwhile scenarios. There are no guarantees, of course. The state parties need to decide concerning delegates. But if he doesn’t reach out, then we can look forward to a kind of retread of 2004 and 2008 again.
The Green Party is ballot-qualified in five of the seven most populous states (all but Illinois and Pennsylvania). Two of the five populous states in which the Greens enjoy status are California and Texas, among the worst six states in the nation for general election presidential ballot access.
The other four miserable presidential ballot access states are Oklahoma, Georgia, North Carolina, and Indiana. There are plenty of problems with certain other states, but those four are the only states in which Ralph Nader never appeared on a ballot.
Anderson would be wise to take them up on their offer.
I have often wondered why the Greens and Peace and Freedom people don’t just combine efforts? The PandF people seem to have the right idea for the left in California–they are essentially a combination of leftwing groups, movements, and parties all vying for attention/power, but all trying to move in the same direction.
The Peace & Freedom Party is officially a party that supports socialism. This is not true for the Green Party.
Richard–I’m aware of that. I was suggesting a shift towards a more pluralistic party for the Green Party in order emulate the success of the P&F.

For the Green Party and Rocky Anderson this is a smart move, and great news.
Practical. Sensible. Pragmatic.
Hope Rocky brings his supporters and joins the Green Party.
He’ll be a strong candidate for the Green Party nomination.
Richard and All
We should ask ourselves why Rocky Anderson stated that the Green brand is “damaged?” Or indeed as to why Rocky should not consider this. Or why Ralph Nader did not seek the GP nod in 2004 and 2008.
There are efforts underway to try and push the Jill Stein and Rocky Anderson campaign to work together, as a fusion campaign. I support that.
So far, the Greens seem to be not interested. As an aside, the Rocky campaign manager, Michael McGee contacted me yesterday to be part of their central committee.
I agreed.
I’ve written an open letter to Rock Anderson and created a Draft Rocky Anderson To Run As A Green For President In 2012.
I really want to impress on my fellow Greens just how big a deal this is. I don’t want to repeat what I wrote in my letter but Rocky Anderson really would be a PERFECT candidate for us AND the prospect of having essentially two Greens in the race would be disastrous. I hope everyone joins the page and puts pressure on him to join the Green Party.

Ben
That is simply not going to happen. IF and I mean a big IF the Green party was ever to figure out why people like myself say that, they may come a long way towards making the two campaigns come together.
I am certainly willing to push them together from this side and I have friends and allies pushing from the other side. I will do everything inn my power to make sure that Rocky Anderson does NOT join the Greens.
I simply no longer trust those in my former party to do what is right. When they violate (IMHO) the central Green Pillars of Grassroots Democracy and Social Justice and that the GP and how they make decisions are broken beyond repair, what else can I say. I do not trust them. At All. In the least.
Ben, you yourself have made comments about the old brigade and Brent needing to be removed.
They are still there and in fact Ben Manski is Jill Steins campaign manager. I can not impress upon you Sir, just how big a deal that is.
