On January 18, the Arizona Secretary of State released a new voter registration tally. There is little change since November 2012, but the percentage of voters registered in the state’s three recognized minor parties increased, and the percentage of independent voters also increased. Here is a link to the data on the Secretary of State’s web page.
The November 2012 percentages were: Republican 35.88%, Democratic 30.50%, Libertarian .71%, Green .156%, Americans Elect .0076%, independent 32.76%.
The January 2013 percentages are: Republican 35.63%, Democratic 30.49%, Libertarian .73%, Green .157%, Americans Elect .0080%, independent 33.00%.
It is somewhat surprising that the only two categories to decline are Republican and Democratic, since the state’s paper voter registration forms have a checkbox for each of the two major parties, but if the voter wants to register independent or into one of the minor parties, the voter must write-in that choice. The constitutionality of that voter registration form will be decided any day now; the matter is pending in U.S. District Court in Tucson.
As we saw in the 2012 presidential election, some Americans are finally realizing that neither wing of The Beltway Party represents them. These data are further evidence of that gradual awakening.

PHOENIX, Feb. 5 – For the fourth time in ninth months, the office of Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett has announced the latest Arizona voter count showing that the Arizona Americans Elect Party has remained the fastest-growing political party in the state, increasing its membership by more than 8% in just the three months since the November 2012 election.
While the new figures show the number of registered Republicans and Democrats declined, the Arizona Americans Elect Party’s membership has grown over 74% since March, when it had 148 members.
“From 177 registered Americans Elect Party members in August, we have increased our number to 258 voters,” said Richard Grayson, Supreme Leader of the Arizona Americans Elect Party and Americans Elect Party 2012 candidate for Congress in the Fourth Congressional District.
Stephen Dolgos of New River was the 2012 Americans Elect Party candidate in the Eighth Congressional District. The Americans Elect Party candidates for Congress from Arizona garnered the fourth highest number of votes in 2012, finishing ahead of the long-established Arizona Green Party.
“We are planning to run a candidate for Governor and all state and federal offices in 2014, when we are assured of being on the ballot again,” said Grayson. “You too can join the cool new party in town where everyone is welcome.”
All ballot qualified parties should get a check box on the voter registration form, not just Democratic Party and Republican Party.
