According to this story, some South Carolina Republican Party leaders want to nominate for public office in the future in conventions instead of primaries. State law lets any party choose either method, although state law also requires a 75% vote at a state convention to change the bylaws.

  2. On the contrary, I hope they succeed. There is no reason why South Carolina taxpayers should have to fund the private political activities of any party. Perhaps those S.C. Republicans can contact those filing fee legislators in Oklahoma to get some tips.
