Even though it has been 48 days since the New Mexico Constitution Party submitted its ballot access petition, the New Mexico Secretary of State is still checking the validity of that petition. The job should be done by May 23. The requirement is 2,794 signatures.
New Mexico does not have the statewide initiative process. States that do have initiatives are usually good at checking signatures rapidly.
Are you smelling at rat here, Richard?
According to information I have just received, the Secretary of State’s office lost 900 signatures and our chairman there had to bring in certified copies. Isn’t that special? Anyway they are almost done and it looks like we need about 40% of the remaining signatures to be good in order to make it.
Last time we were able to successfully protest many that were originally rejected, so that also is a possibility if we were to still run short on the remainder that they are counting.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW THIRD PARTIES ARE TREATED BY THE ESTABLISHNENT.HOW CAN WE CLAIM TO STAND FOR FREEDOM AND LIBERTY WHEN MANY ARE DENIED THE RIGHT TO SEEK OFFICE.
