The Texas Libertarian Party will have 12 State Senate nominees, and 86 State House nominees, for a total of 98 legislative nominees. This is the highest number of legislative nominees that any minor party has run for the Texas legislature in 90 years. In 2006 the Texas Libertarian Party had almost as many (97). Texas elects 165 or 166 state legislators each election year (half the State Senate, and the entire House).
The extra’s are all from the Constitution Party, which couldn’t get on the ballot again.
Was about to congratulate but huh? CPers running on LP line? Hmm.
That’s pretty impressive for the Libertarians. Their candidate recruitment operation must be pretty good.
The Executive Staff, led by Wes Benedict and Art DiBiance, deserve almost all of the credit. They recruited most of the candidates from Libertarian Party state and national lists. CPers were not contacted. In fact I am not aware of any CPers running as Libertarians in Texas.
