On June 19, the Green Party released this press release about its national convention schedule. The convention starts on July 10, but the presidential and vice-presidential selection will be on Saturday afternoon, July 12, at 1:30 pm. The schedule also calls for the vice-presidential candidate’s acceptance speech at 2:30 pm, and the presidential candidate’s acceptance speech at 3:00 pm. The location for that day’s events is the Chicago Symphony Center.
The biggest enemy of American Greens is the Green Party USA !!!!
How long is a vote supposed to take?
The vote for president shouldn’t take long at all since McKinney will have enough delegates to win on the first ballot. How long the VP vote takes will depend on how many candidates there are, whether McKinney makes an endorsement, etc. If the choice were clear, it wouldn’t take long. But will the choice be clear? Any ideas who the VP candidates will be?
WHO ARE THE CANDIDATES>
Schedules are subject to change. If the votes go too long, that means less political speeches.
How long did the Constitution Party votes take?
I don’t know why there would even be a VP vote other than a simple voice vote up or down on McKinney’s choice. And the scheduling is a bit odd…..why is the VP acceptance speech immediately following the vote? That means Cynthia McKinney (assuming she’s nominated during that preceding hour) or her representatives have to make her choice known immediately following the presidential vote. I would think that, since she is obviously going to get the nomination, she would have made her choice known already.
MAYBE HARD HITTING CYNTHIA WILL TAKE VOTES AWAY FROM OBAMA BETTER YET MAYBE SHE WILL PUNCH HIS LIGHTS OUT. I WOULD PAY GOOD MONEY TO WATCH THAT MATCH.
The nominating will be broadcast on the pacifica broadcasting website.
And the Zas Zas Gabor “Left Hook” Award goes to…..
The big news I gleaned from the press release was that Pat LaMarche will introduce the Veep nominee, meaning that she will not be the Veep nominee again in 2008.
Those interested in speculation about the Green Veep may want to check out this conversation over at Green Party Watch.
Hurray, Cobb and LaMarche deserve to be in the Progressive Hall of Shame. May they each rot in pergatory for ever!
Is Frank MacKay the Chairman of this Party too?
