The Ohio Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee will hear SB 193 on Wednesday, September 25, at 1:30 p.m. This is the bill that, if passed in its current form, would remove the Constitution, Green, Libertarian, and Socialist Parties from the 2014 ballot. There are five points to the bill that are probably unconstitutional. I have e-mailed the Committee chair to explain these problems with the bill. If you are interested in seeing a copy of the e-mail testimony, please e-mail me at richardwinger@yahoo.com.
D-n straight that’s unconstitutional! It sounds like an unabashed Democratic and Republican Party ploy to monopolize the Ohio ballot.
If I lived in Ohio I’d be getting ready to march on the state capitol right now.
The bill’s text can be found at:

This is 100% GOP operative to squash minor parties on the ballot. The candidates are already out campaigning and getting signatures NOW. The game has already started. The LPO has a solid and reasonable approach of solutions to the ballot access in Ohio. Not ONE person in the Ohio Assembly thought to pick up the phone and ask us. They sure do have copies now, after the hearing.
I did not see anything about this on the party website.
