The United States Election Project, which studies turnout, has revised its figures for the November 2014 election. See here. The Project still estimates that 36.2% of the voters who could have participated did so. The link has figures for each of the 50 states, unlike the original data that omitted Indiana, Missouri, Utah, and Washington.
It has been said that people who do not vote in a particular election, fail to do so because they are satisfied with the incumbent, and if they did vote, would distribute their votes pretty much in the same pattern as reflected by the actual votes.
Most people get the kind of government they deserve, and deserve the kind of government they get.
Lots of MORONS think the USA is a Prez Dictatorship – Monarchy – Empire since 1932 — so voting by them in mid-term elections is a waste of time and effort.
What percentage of the alleged might be Voters are functional illiterates, mentally ill, etc. ???

P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.
One of the things that needs to be considered is the “Motor Voter” legislation from 1993. Since then, people have been asked to register to vote at their local DMVs when there for the purpose of taking care of other business. Basically, these folks aren’t really interested voters in the first place and likely just feel intimidated into registering. And data, at least from West Virginia, shows this since people registered here as “unaffiliated,” the so-called “independent” voters who do not select a political party on their registration form, have voter turnout rates of at least HALF those registered to a particular party. And, with “independent” voter registration on the rise, Democrat registration falling, and Republican registration stagnant, this exacerbates the plummet in overall voter turnout rates. NOTE: We are still in the process of obtaining the voter histories for the Libertarian and Constitution parties here since they need to be broken out from the “Other Party” registration category by hand. Oddly though, the Mountain Party (Green Party affiliate) has the exact same low voter turnout as the unaffiliated voters… and the exact same linear trend rate increase in voter registration. Hmmm….
