The Alabama Senate Constitution, Ethics & Elections Committee will hear SB 221 on Wednesday, March 18, at 11 a.m. This is the bill to ease the number of signatures for newly-qualifying parties and independent candidates, and also to set a later petition deadline for new parties.
Now that SB 221 was voted out of committee, everyone needs to start calling, emailing, and texting all of the Alabama Senators asking for their support when it is brought up before the whole Senate.
In the meantime, it doesn’t hurt to ask members of the Alabama House of Representatives to support the bill if it passes the Senate.
It’s not the best bill, but it’s better than nothing.
