Even the P.R. regimes have defective math.
I.E. ALL the regimes are EVIL and VICIOUS monarch/oligarch regimes with varying minority rule percentages.
I.E. the map should have perhaps —
REAL Minority Rule percentages –
0-10 [China, Russia, etc.]
11-20
21-30 [U.S.A., UK, Canada, India, etc.]
31-40
41-50 [most P.R. regimes – Israel, Germany, New Zealand, etc.]

Thanks for posting this, Richard. This was a big project done by Devin McCarthy when he was at FairVote. It’s really a remarkable product, and I’d love to see it get more attention.
What good is it to look and compare the electoral maps of other nations. The TOP TWO and two party dictators have already decided that the so-called Two Party System will remain to dictate all elections in this country.

Casual Observer and/or Casual Bystander. I am afraid it may be true, unless immigration continues to grow and grow. Hispanics do not like Blacks as a rule. The day could come when Hispanics take over the Democratic party. If they do, Blacks and ultra liberal whites may attempt to form a Progressive Party.
If the Republican Party abandons it traditional position on traditional issues, Southern and right wing Republicans might start a 3rd party called the Constitutional Party or the American Independence Party.
The GOP will always have enough money to run candidates and win a few elections. Libertarians may be forced to merge with the GOP to have any influence.
So, we might see a 4 party system – 2 major parties and two minor parties – all electing some members of office – especially local offices. Through a coalition, we might see one of the major parties and one of the minor parties elect a President. For example, the major party would nominate the Presidential candidate, and the minor party would nominate the Vice-President candidate.
But outside of this, I doubt we see any real electoral justice in this country during what is left of my life.

Alabama – RE: “Major Party” vs. “Minor Party” – I would like to direct everyone to Wikipedia’s list of political parties in the United States where their definition of a major party is one which has affiliates in a majority of states. Unfortunately they appear to be using ballot access for their numerical data. Regardless, the Libertarian, Green, and Constitution Parties are all, by definition, MAJOR PARTIES.

“Minor” parties are those like the Prohibition, Reform, and Justice parties which are only active in perhaps a handful of states, if at all.

Ditto on the above for the term “3rd party.” We all know that the corporate and bankster-controlled establishment parties are one and the same. We are all SECOND, 2nd, party advocates.

This is an exciting unifying psychology and we hope to continue our work as facilitators of the knowledge about pure proportional representation (PR).
