Professor Lawrence Lessig has met his goal of receiving at least $1,000,000 in contributions and pledges, and will now seek the Democratic presidential nomination. See his web page here. He is campaigning on election law issues, mostly campaign finance, but he also talks about alternative voting systems. His first goal is to establish public funding for congressional candidates.

I think Lessig is right to make the point that citizen equality/political representation reform can’t happen till it’s made first on the list. Lessig’s effort here is to make that understood, if not make that happen as rapidly as possible as well.
Sure, Lessig’s candidacy is essentially a stunt, but with Trump’s campaign being what it is — and with the way cable TV and televised debates filter our political discourse — Lessig’s participation in the debates might be the only way to introduce the public to the necessity of — and options for — such reform. Maybe Lessig can do for electoral reform what Trump did for the issue of immigration.
How many $$$ BILLIONS will Lessig get from the Elephants to DIVIDE and CONQUER the Donkeys ???
