Here is an NPR story about Jim Webb’s press conference of October 20. He has left the race for the Democratic nomination and will decide later whether to run as an independent.

I think it is interesting that the article said if he was an independent candidate and peeled away a few % pts in the state of Virginia that could hurt Democrats.
They didn’t mention that could easily, if not more likely, be the case of hurting the Republicans.
Sloppy assumption to think it would only hurt the Dems.
Too bad Americans Elect is not around in 2016. Jim Webb would have been an ideal candidate for this ticket.
I’d say Webb would have a better shot at pulling more Republican voters than Democratic ones. But mainly, he would soak up the center.
