This is the first election in a century in which a party received a majority of the popular vote.
The Manitoba Party became a registered party on March 24, 26 days before the election. To be a registered party, a party must endorse at least five candidates. It appears that the primary advantage of registration is financial.
Manitoba does not permit the use of the word “Independent” in registered party names.
