  1. While I’m glad that bill was killed, what was it doing in that committee, which has nothing to do with elections???

  2. At a guess, because the “State” in the committee name refers to the Secretary/Department of State — that’s often the branch of the tree of organization where elections offices sprout. (And a quick Googling of the two words “Colorado” and “elections” brings up the “Colorado Department of State — Election Center” as the first result.)

  3. John, that’s most likely correct. Colorado used to have a separate Elections Committee years ago when I was there. It looks like they finally rolled that into Vet Affairs instead.

  4. I guess this is the old “when in doubt, don’t give the voters the power to vote.” Who knows, they might elect people the current politicians don’t like.

  5. The Colorado Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee is often used as a place for miscellaneous bills to be sent, or for bills to be sent to be killed (or tabled indefinitely).
