  1. The job of district attorney and sheriff should be non partisan. The job of District Attorney is prosecuting criminals .The job if sheriff is arresting those who commit crimes .Criminal justice should be neither a Republican or Democratic issue .It’s a issue concerning all citizens regardless of political or non political beliefs .

  2. Criminal justice should be independent of political decisions and be a issue concerning all citizens .The candidates running for both District Attorney and Sheriff should be elected on a non partisan ticket .Leave the partisan politics out .

  3. willism… part of it stems from that there are many Democrats who favor repeal of many victimless laws and thus would be prefer a prosecutor who would not prosecute those “crimes”. While many republicans are authoritarians and favor even more socially restricting laws and harsher sentencing.

  4. It is the sole decision of the DA to actually prosecute a “crime”. They can drop a case if they desire. They alone are the sole decider whether something is perused or not.
