On October 20, the Kentucky State Elections Board released new registration data. The percentages: Democratic 51.23%; Republican 40.47%; Libertarian .23%; Green .05%; Constitution .01%; Socialist Workers under .01%; Reform under .01%; independent and miscellaneous 8.00%.
The percentages in January 2016 were: Democratic 52.23%; Republican 39.74%; Libertarian .16%; Green .03%; Constitution .01%; Reform under .01%; Socialist Workers under .01%; independent and miscellaneous 7.83%.
Kentucky has both “independent” and “other”. The “other” consists of independents and those of minor parties who registered before about 2000 who have not bothered to reregister to their “real” party when Secretary of State allowed one to register as a Libertarian, Green, Constitution, Reform, or Socialist Workers. There is apparently no rules as to how a party gets on the list — that is up to the Secretary of State’s whim.
