Canadian Government Won’t Seek Electoral Reform After All — 4 Comments

  1. I really wanted to see electoral reform in Canada, with a mix of Instant Runoff Voting and Proportional Voting. Mexico has the majoritarian-parallel version of MMP but I was hoping Canada would jump on board and sprinkle some electoral innovation to us Americans!

  2. Not for national elections. Canada is a federation but the national parliament writes the election laws for the whole country, for the national parliament. However the provinces can write their own procedures for provincial elections.
