Russia holds a presidential election on March 18, 2018. Here is the wikipedia page describing the ballot access laws and other details of that election.
Here is a New York Times article, published in the print edition on December 1, about one of the candidates, Ksenia Sobchak.
NONPARTISAN AppV for executive offices
— even in regimes having elections in mid-late winter in frozen regimes.
Actually, before the Soviet Union was abolished, they had a system of voting called DISapproval voting. Since there was usually only the candidate endorsed by the Communist Party on the ballot, a voter’s only option was to strike out the name if that voter didn’t support the candidate. I think that there were actual cases of candidates being eliminated by this method, and new candidates offered. Is this method of voting still used in Russia today?
What percentage of those Dis-approval voters in 1917-1953 Russia/USSR got KILLED [aka eliminated / liquidated] — as being anti-communists ???
Well, here’s hoping Vladimir Putin doesn’t get reelected (Yes – Pipe Dream, I know – Still, I can hope).
Karl T. Knight… There’s talk that he’s considering not even running.
Finding out possible enemies of the regime to get killed *by accidents*, of course.
How many political DEAD bodies in the New Age Putin era – as compared to the Lenin, Stalin, etc. eras ???
@Aiden James… That would work for me! I hadn’t heard that before – I suppose we’ll have wait and see in 2018.
Perhaps he will call a meeting of the Boyars and in conjunction with the Russian Orthodox Church get himself appointed and anointed the new imperial house! Who needs a Romanov when you can have a Putin!
