Michigan Governor Rick Snyder says he will call a special election to fill the vacant 13th district U.S. House seat. See this story. Michigan has more ballot-qualified parties than any other state in the midwest, and all of them will be able to nominate a candidate with no petition. Besides the two major parties, the Libertarian, Green, Constitution, Natural Law, and Working Class Parties are on the ballot. The name of the Constitution Party in Michigan is the U.S. Taxpayers Party. The state won’t let the party change its name. U.S. Taxpayers Party nationally changed its name to Constitution Party in 1999, and all the other states where it was on the ballot let it change its name, if the state party wanted to change its name.
Michigan may indeed have many ballot qualified parties but unfortunately they are all built on the failed pluality voting system which guarantees that there will be no collaborating among the selfish party bosses.
The new United Coalition has been using pure proportional representation for more than twenty-two consecutive years and it works fine to create teamwork among diverse candidates despite the party bosses.

Richard:
You forgot about Nevada’s Independent American Party & California’s American Independent Party.
When the United Coalition of Candidates work together for the good of the whole under pure proportional representation the party bosses view that simply as a threat to their failed pluralistic strategy.
The chairs and other key organizers of pluralists cannot make a phone call or small gestures to support the work such as equal treatment, protection of equal time but rather they offer bizarre reactions and unfair treatment over the years which ranges from bullying and censorship to usurption of the message.
Pluralistic psychology of all pluralistic elections will continue the patterns of self-destructive nature for Independents and regular people.
The United Coalition has been using pure proportional representation for more than twenty-two consecutive years and it works fine. As a team we elect structural decisions, names and Unity Platform items with ease.

Why do they need partisan nominations?
I spoke to Pamela Elizondo [Green], candidate for public office in 2018 yesterday, and we are working on the eballot for the Unity Platform in 2018.
She and I will cooperate to get her item on top of ballot. I have her exact instructions, the item is for “healing the earth”, and I will be promoting this in United Coalition with everyone, including Monterey County Republican Party and World Humanitarian Party through Earth Day.

Likely 2 terms only for Donkey before district gets wiped out due to ongoing wipeout of Detroit (and Michigan) due to depopulation
— IE esp. escaping the communism in Detroit since the 1967 Detroit Riot/Rebellion.
The United Coalition will also be adding a 2nd platform item “Ratify Article the First, Bill of Rights 1879” which is intended to make Michigan (possibly one of the 27 or 37 states needed to ratify) and that would move them towards at-large pure proportional representation (PR) with 5000-voter-constituents per elected Congressperson.

Charles Deemer, I didn’t forget about California and Nevada. Those two parties never wanted to change their name to Constitution, but Michigan party did want to, but the state won’t let it. But I admit my post wasn’t worded clearly on that, so I just tried to make it clear. Thank you for bringing this up.
This is the “newsroom” for the governor’s office:

No announcement yet of when a special election would be.
@Richard Winger,
How can you determine what the rank and file of the US Taxpayers Party in Michigan wanted to do, since Michigan does not have partisan registration.
It would be so much simpler if a candidate who wanted to say that they were a Constitution, Democrat, Natural Law, or Whig could simply say so when they filed with a petition or filing fee?

Party hack candidates DO declare a party when filing a nominating petition for USA Rep.
Separate nominating petitions for independent candidates.
NO filing fees for USA Reps.

As predicted —
the HACK much Guv has ordered a Aug primary and Nov 2018 election for the Conyers district
— ONE less Donkey vote in the USA gerrymander H of Reps for about 1 year.
The Aug-Nov dates are the regular dates for Mich Fed/State elections.
Looks like Snyder has decided not to call a special election to replace John Conyers until next November. Which means there won’t be a US Representative for Michigan’s 13th District for the next eleven months. A nerd should be smarter than that.
