On May 18, U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell introduced an amendment to the Immigration Reform bill, to require that states not let people vote at the polls without showing photo I.D. The bill is S.2611 and the amendment is SA4021. The amendment would only apply to elections for federal office, since the U.S. Constitution doesn’t let the federal government legislate such a requirement for state and local offices.
Is a primary election a federal election if candidates for the House are in the primary?
Can you say poll tax? Afterall, states are the ones who sell the ids, so making them free is not likely. Of course passports are even more expensive.
OK, one can’t
• Buy alcohol,
• Cash a check
• Get into some night clubs
• Get on a plane/train
• Fill out the forms to START a job
• Visit some doctors (I have been asked for an ID)
• Rent videos
• Rent a car
The idea of not having an ID in todays world is kinda ridiculous. Requiring an ID at the poll is common sense. 99.99+% of the people are going to have an ID (of some type DL/Militiary ID/Prison ID/Passport/State ID Card). Though the fact that the ID requirement a RealID, is a bit disappointing.
(Now we just need a required paper trail for voting machines).
And on the other side of the fence!
Mexico produces ‘Illegas Norte Mericanos’ by fruadulant take over of their land and home holding(s)!
“Baja Beach and Tennis Club” (and my near investment in 1987) is the poster facility of Mexicans turning legal home owners/ renters/ timesharers in to illegal immigrants. Appearently there is a third wave of corruption near Roserita Beach!

“A true desert hideaway in Baja; quiet and unassuming, elegant and relaxing. Mexican dignitaries dine and
rejuve at this resort. Reservations are a bit tricky, good to have a local agent confirm. Don’t leave the US
without your reservation booking number and check the requirements on passports before making
reservations to ensure that you will have a smooth entrance into Mexico.â€

“My family used to own 2 plots of land in this resort, with one of which having a house. It was a sad day
when the mexican military came and forced all those who were living there to leave the premise within
hours. We were forced to leave all our belongings behind including all the furniture, etc. And now they rent
out our house as a timeshare. Thank you President Fox… thank you for screwing us over.â€

I agree that ID should be required. I also agree that we should provide guest workers visa but they should be not be a path to citizenship, just like in Germany, you can work all your life in that country but you will be granted citizenship, benefits should only be given to citizens. I am a US citizen and I have been trying to petition relatives who are professionals to come and live in the US, It takes on average 17 TO 20 YEARS to do so. Everyone should follow the law. ID is in, immigration reform is out…..
Another one of those amendments designed to look tough on illegal immigration. And, of course, it passed.
The I.D. will be fake or stolen.
Most of the Senate thinks Americans are dumb and that is going to be their problem in the future.
We know what is going on and guys and girls you are in trouble.
Mary Chamberlain, what do you mean it passed, I thought they only voted to table it this morning. I’ve seen no reports so far that says they did vote and paas the amendment. Thank you for your answer in advance.
