New York Times Says California Centrists Should Organize a New Party — 2 Comments
First, supporters of ‘top two’ said that one result of its adoption would be the election of more moderate/centrist candidates. But that has not really happened. So why would a centrist party succeed – its candidates would most likely not make it the general election.
Two, a ‘Centrist’ Party assumes that people who are in the middle agree on the issues. A voter could hold in general moderate political beliefs but on any particular issue not agree with another voter who is also politically moderate overall.
