North Carolina Democrat Wins State Supreme Court Seat with a Plurality Against Two Republicans

North Carolina elected a State Supreme Court Justice on November 7. The Republican-majority legislature had earlier restored partisan nominations for judicial races, but in 2017 that legislature passed a bill saying that for 2018 only, there would be no party primaries, and candidates for judicial office would simply file for the November election. Their party label in November would match the party in which they were registered.

Two Republicans and one Democrat filed for the 2018 race. When the legislature observed that, it quickly passed a bill saying that a judicial candidate who had not been a member of a particular party for at least three months before filing could not have any party label on the ballot. But Christopher Anglin, one of the two Republicans, who was injured by that law, sued in state court and won. So, he did have “Republican” next to his name.

The results: the Democrat, Anita Earle, won the election with 49.45% of the vote. Republican Anglin got 16.40%, and the other Republican, Barbara Jackson, got 34.15%. So Democrats won the seat even though more votes were cast for Republicans.

  1. This is an example of a random win under plurality voting in single-winner districts.

If you live in SF, that will never happen, the biggest civic group will always win 100% of the time, guaranteed, because there is no split-vote problem.

In SF they live under a one-party system and that’s what they love.

Are you interested in pure proportional representation (PPR)?

The party bosses don’t want you to know, they’ve snuffed out the team at every step since 1992 and they try to capitalise on the info. for their own plan and thus blocked our team.

Google tried to copy us but they too got it wrong. Their BoD doesn’t use PPR and neither does the search engine. When you click “Go”, go is not a numeral.

    The United Coalition USA:

The Libertarian Party didn’t want to hear about the United Coalition USA in 2012 when we won the first and only state primary with 52.7% because they opposed pure proportional representation.

We won despite being blocked on their national web site, from numerous LP facebook pages, from BAN and IPR. Their chauvinistic chair disrespected our female candidates for POTUS but we insist on standing by the math of pure proportional representation despite being destroyed by google from the beginning because of the campaign of the Green Party Cameron Spitzer because he didn’t want the Environmentalist Party working with the Tea Parties.

The Boston Tea Party is now sustained in the United Coalition USA and chauvinist former Boston Tea Party chair is now an executive with the national Libertarian Party.

  2. Unfortunately, the national Libertarian and Fargo have adopted a one-party voting system.

That’s where the biggest faction can put all their votes on a slate (or single winner district) and so the biggest faction always wins.

This the biggest faction becomes the one party always winning in the one-party system.

  3. The national Libertarian Party and the city of Fargo North Dakota have both adopted the one-party system.

Approval Voting (AppV) is where voters may vote for as many choices they want, so when the biggest faction forms a slate, they always win all the seats.

Are you ready for elections where all factions get elected with the same low threshold based on number of votes cast divided by the number of open seats (Hagenbach-Bischoff method) and which requires ranked choice voting in order to work perfectly?

The United Coalition USA has been using parliamentary procedures under pure proportional representation (PPR) for more than twenty-three consecutive years and PPR works fine to unite and include the whole, under the mathematics which bring a new team psychology phenomena that’s sweeping the world.

  4. Some century SOME folks *may* detect

    — the difference between legis and exec/judic offices

    — and even majority rule and minority representation.

    PR – legis

    AppV – exec/judic

Ms. Earls is one of the usual suspect super-leftwing lawyers in NC

    — like electing Ms. Lenin/Stalin/Mao to a state supreme court.

    Classic divide and conquer math.
