British Columbia Voters Defeat Proportional Representation — 22 Comments

  1. Massive failure by the usual suspect math MORONS to educate the voters about ANTI-Democracy minority rule gerrymander math —

    1/2 or less votes x 1/2 rigged gerrymander districts = 1/4 or less CONTROL = EVIL/VICIOUS OLIGARCHY.

IE — one more regime super-ready for Civil W-A-R.

  2. Aaaawwww, Demo Rep is going to be so sad.

Had to look up “first-past-the post,” more commonly known as winner take all. I believe the flaw in this effort was trying to integrate multi-member districts. We’re getting rid of them here in West Virginia after the 2020 census – to have 100 single delegate House districts instead of the current mixed bag of 67. Multi-member just results in too many public servants not pulling their weight.

  3. Ha ha ha haaaa haaa – What did I tell you? Literally first past the post. DR beat me by a minute.

  4. Damn, This sucks how BC voters are refused to learn history for the second time under this third Electoral reform provincial referendum and they even bother getting out the province once to see that other Provinces governments and even national politics has few parties under their governments under supposedly pro-Two party FPTP? And also even bother to visit so-called “Mythical and perfect” FPFP the United States and its consequences has make few people like me see?

    No? *Facepalm*

  5. For gerrymander math MORONS —

“first-past-the post” = from Brit horse races.

Math MORONS can not detect difference between ANTI-Democracy regimes and Democracy regimes

    — part of the New Age of political MORONS

    — see the moron media in Devil City and ALL State capitols.

Canada can now proceed to blow up — West vs Ontario vs Quebec vs East.

PR and AppV — regardless of ALL math and actual MORONS.

  6. I think electoral reform is key for the success of third party candidates in heavily two party systems. Canada has a vibrant multi party system with its current plurality system.

That said, I think canada would be open to 2-member districts, like chile’s binominal system. Maybe not the Dual Member Proportional system proposed in PEI but guaranteeing that the most voted candidate gets the first seat and then the most popular party gets the second seat.

  7. The TYRANT ROT in *parliamentary* systems (UK, Canada, etc) is much worse than in the defective Separation of Powers systems —

ie the top PARL HACKS have both legis and exec powers.

Result — continuous machinations to have ALL POWERFUL PARTY HACK MONARCH TYRANTS.

See the infamous fatal 1933-1945 Hitler regime of slavery, death and destruction.

Too many polisci MORONS to count.

    Thus — BC vote — TYRANTS 1 — Democracy 0.

  8. the 3-4 larger parties in each Canada area only reduces the CONTROL percentage —

ie nominal Control — about 20 percent

REAL REAL control — NEAR ZERO due to top Party HACKS picking candidates —

    NO public primaries in Canada.

IE Canada is a de facto frozen Banana Republic — very UNSTABLE.

  9. Most BC voters probably recognize the problem of the Green Party providing support for the NDP minority government. PR would make this even worse.

The better solution would be to divide the province into 3 parts: Vancouver Island; Vancuover and the lower Fraser valley, and the interior.

  10. Maybe BC could have a proportional system but with a transferable ballot. Parties would be allocated seats and then the very same voters can decide which party should be in power.

  11. Thanks DR, the Droop Quota matches my math, I liked the link.

However the Britannica site broad-brushed a lot of election systems, incorrectly identifying the large majority of those systems and countries which use them as proportional representation and they are not proportional representation.

But the Droop Quota description look perfect to me.

  12. AGAIN – DROOP fraction math FROM LATE 1860S.

Droop fails with EXACT PR math.
    —–
Math morons — esp in the so-called *media* — can NOT detect the

    1. UNEQUAL votes for each gerrymander district winner

    2. UNEQUAL total votes in each gerrymander district.

Thus the now super-CRISIS in Western Civilization with a wannabee demagogic lawless TYRANT in the USA White House [with its nonstop demands for TOTAL control over laws and courts]

    — and all sorts of top HACKS in various regimes — UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, etc.

Stay tuned for CRISIS at noon 3 Jan 2019 — new gerrymander USA Congress meets.

  13. I was referring to Droop in multiple winner districts alone, it’s the same principle of 50% (plus one vote), but of course I totally oppose single winner election districtd, includibg Droop single winner districts.

At-large multiple winner districts under Droop are perfect.

  14. Droop = mathematical perfection of pure proportional representation

MMP (mixed member proportional) = not proportional representation and biased against independents and outsiders and favorable towards party bosses who provide the party lists.

  15. Sample ANTI-Democracy gerrymander math examples
    11 rigged gerrymander districts

    EXTREME
    1 51 49 100
    2 51 49 100
    3 51 49 100
    4 51 49 100
    5 51 49 100
    6 51 49 100

    7 0 100 100
    8 0 100 100
    9 0 100 100
    10 0 100 100
    11 0 100 100

    TOT 306 794 1100

    PCT 27.8 72.2 100.0

    *******

    OFTEN
    1 55 45 100
    2 55 45 100
    3 55 45 100
    4 55 45 100
    5 55 45 100
    6 55 45 100

    7 30 70 100
    8 30 70 100
    9 30 70 100
    10 30 70 100
    11 30 70 100

    TOT 480 620 1100

    PCT 43.6 56.4 100.0

    6 X 55 = 330 = 30 PCT CONTROL.

The gerrymander monarchs now try to do the *OFTEN* examples —
ie have CONTROL in even *wave* elections.

Worse minority rule math with unequal total votes per district and more candidates per district.

Too many lawyer and judge MORONS in gerrymander cases since 1964- mere 54 years plus and counting down to Civil W-A-R II.

TOTAL math morons in Media — esp. super-moron TV talking heads – re politics / govts.
