Several dozen Massachusetts candidates for U.S. House are asking the Secretary of State for relief of petition requirements. Candidates for U.S. House need 2,000 signatures of party members or independent voters. Some of those asking for relief are incumbents. See this story.

  1. If 2,000 is bad, come to Indiana and get your approx. 4,000 valid signatures in by July 2nd.

  2. In Massachusetts, all signature have to be certified at town halls, and all primary candidates are restricted to registered party members or independents. Certification rates can be low, with town clerks strictly enforcing the party registration rules.
