On May 27, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party asked a U.S. District Court to intervene in the minor party ballot access case, Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania v Wolf, e.d., 5:20cv-2299. The case asks for petitioning relief for the Libertarian, Green, and Constitution Parties.
The Democratic Party brief opposes petitioning relief for the minor parties. It says Democrats had to petition to get on the Democratic primary ballot. But the petitioning period for members of major parties ended February 18, 2020, before the impact of the health crisis. Furthermore, no Democrat needed more than 2,000 signatures, but the statewide minor party candidates need 5,000.
The point about the COVID scare and lockdowns is 100% valid. The point about 2,000 valid for statewide major party candidates, and 5,000 for statewide minor party and independent candidates is not so valid, because only a registered Democrat can sign a Democrat petition, and only a registered Republican can sign a Republican petition, whereas any registered voter can sign a minor party or independent candidate petition.
As I suspected, the conspiracy against third party and independent candidates is in full swing in 2020. Plurality voting and a deeply divided electorate compel this kind of action. Ranked choice, or approval voting would minimize this anti-third party hysteria.
Typical fascist Democrats. They want to rig the elections there.
Afraid of competition.. The dems are going to try and drag this out too. They must be trying to get rid of someone
Marginal Prez States–
Donkeys – purge Greens ???
Elephants – purge LPs ???
or just TYRANT purge ALL minors and indies ???
Dems purge L.P. Even more than republicans.
The point about signatures is absolutely valid. First, the Republicrats only “have” to get signatures because they choose to do so. It’s a requirement they impose on themselves. Second, they are petitioning for a tax-funded nomination process. They are getting tens of millions of dollars in subsidies from the taxpayers.
