Maine Republican Party Submits Petition to Force Another Vote on Ranked Choice Voting for President

The Maine Republican Party submitted a referendum petition on June 15. The purpose is to require yet another vote on whether Maine should use ranked choice voting. Voters have already voted in favor twice. The new petition has the effect of stopping the use of ranked choice voting for president in November 2020, assuming the petition is valid. See this story.

There is a possibility the timing of the referendum petition is too late. That is currently being litigated in a state trial court.

  1. This is another petition I heard continued to gather signatures during the COVID scare.

  2. It’s sad to think that the Republicans believe today that they can only win with plurality voting. I don’t think that Reagan would have had a problem with this. It says a lot about the Trumpian mindset.

  3. Trumpian mindset = minority plurality lawless TYRANNY.

Remember the 1 June 2020 Trump ATTACK on the protesters – public and secret police with military backup.

    = Brit attack on 19 Apr 1775 ??? >>> 1775-1784 Am Rev WAR ???

PR = BOTH majority rule and minority representation.

  4. The major parties betray their lack of confidence in their ideas when they work incessantly to keep candidates outside of the duopoly off the ballot or otherwise decrease their odds of getting votes. We are where we are as a country primarily due to the defeat of the American people at the hands of the duopoly. Sadly, many of the American people pull the lever for their own defeat every even-numbered November.

  5. The United Coalition USA agrees with Maine Republican Party.

Ranked choice voting in single-winner election districts is a one-party system. No 2nd biggest ever wins, not like plurality voting, because the split-vote problem allows random wins.

Those wanting a one-party system like in Maine, SF, Oakland and many more with ranked choice voting, approval voting, and the many other foul voting scams like score voting, mixed member proportional and, they should know now that the Hagenbach-Bishoff Method hasn’t been improved since 1900 for percentages in elections.

No way to Libertarian Party semi-proportional representation.

Only one way will bring the three-party system and the United Coalition USA has been using it right since 1992.
