U.S. Supreme Court Refuses to Hear General Election Presidential Debates Case

On March 22, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear Level the Playing Field v Federal Election Commission, 20-649. The plaintiffs included the Libertarian Party and the Green Party. The case challenged the FEC’s determination that the Commission on Presidential Debates is not breaking federal campaign laws when the Commission pays for the costs of general election debates with contributions from corporations. Federal law does not allow corporations to donate to federal candidates.

  16. Like I said many times: If the six most significant parties that cover the entire political spectrum had full or nearly full ballot access nationwide the polling on all six would level out.
    To approximately leftist Green 27%, rightist Constitution 27%, left leaning centrist Democrat 17%, right leaning centrist republican 17%, extreme rightist/ neither left nor right/both left and right Libertarian 13%, centrist Reform/Alliance X/unknown/variable%.
    Since the debate cutoff is 15%, most if not all should make that cutoff.
    Since we cannot expect any judicial or legislative or executive order for relief or rich people to accomplish this, the third parties must and should be able to help each other to get on all ballots.

  36. Mine is Andy Too, which comes from my Chinese paternal grandfather. My other three grandparents were of various European descent…English, Irish, Scottish, Italian, Jewish, Portuguese and Norwegian, possibly other kinds of European as well. I’ll take Andy Not Gonzalez Maybe Jacobs Maybe Not at his own word as far as his last name or ancestry. So far I’ve only seen him deny what multiple other people claim his last name is, and claim he posted his real name before, but I’ve never seen it and he still hasn’t posted it when asked or provided a link. So I’ll take claims about his name coming from others as dubious unless and until he confirms or denies them.
