How did that happen? Are they an FEC recognized national party? Did they have a massive cash infusion and do a giant petition? What’s the mechanism by which they became a party there?
Florida party recognition has nothing to do with FEC recognition. FEC recognition is only required for a qualified party to place someone on the November ballot for president.
Parties become ballot-qualified in Florida by submitting a list of party officers and party bylaws, and agreeing to report campaign finances on a regular basis, and having a certain amount of spending.
Does it give them standing to run candidates for other offices more easily than they could as independents?
The only difference is that the party label will be on the ballot next to the names of their nominees.
So, Unity Party candidates would still need to petition or pay filing fees to get on the ballot in Florida? This just means they have recognition of the party name and voter registration rights? Not automatic ballot access?
