Florida Special U.S. House Election Likely to Have Four Candidates

Florida will hold a special election to fill the vacancy in the 20th congressional district on January 11, 2022. The seat is vacant because Congressman Alcee Hastings died on April 6, 2021. According to this story, one Libertarian and one independent have announced. The deadline for petitions in lieu of filing fee is August 3, and 1,168 signatures are needed. The filing fee for party members is $10,440. Presumably both the Libertarian and the independent will attempt to collect the signatures in lieu of filing fee.

Assuming a Libertarian does get on the ballot, that will be the first minor party U.S. House candidate on the Florida ballot since 2016, when there was a Libertarian in the Second District. Florida has very few minor party candidates for U.S. House because the filing fee is so high.

Meantime, a lawsuit is proceeding in U.S. District Court to force the state to hold the special election earlier. Dowling v DeSantis, s.d., 9:21cv-80796. On June 3, the state filed its brief, urging the court to dismiss the case.

  1. NOOOO more legis special elections.

    Candidate / Incumbent replacement lists.

  2. @Demo Rep…. Cause fuck democracy and the people being represented, right? Only the opinion of the original highest vote getter counts?

The only instance where I agree is a vacant seat that is going to be filled at the general election to serve an unexpired term that only has November and December left…. congress shouldn’t even be allowed to meet in November or December of an election year.

  3. Only I, the cyberpig, and my many fake personalities such as Egyptian Dud should be using vulgar language.

  4. The garbage comment at 3:24 is from the cyberpig xaulie bannali. The comment at 2:59 is also from xaulie bannali. All of these garbage comments are posted by the cyberpig.

  5. What does he do, just sit around all day posting garbage comments online under fake names and IP anonymizers?

  6. According to his Facebook page he has two kids and a woman (not a wife). He seems to be a wannabe “community organizer” who is a socialist but doesn’t do much. He lost his election for class president and perhaps he hasn’t recovered from that. Maybe he’s now a stay-at-home dad who spends the day trolling this site and others.

  7. That’s fake news. I actually don’t have any kids, and I’m more into men, trannies and porn. I’m not a community organizer. I am a socialist, actually communist, but sometimes I pretend to be a libertarian or a Trump supporter. I’ve never run for class president. I do spend a chunk of every day trolling.

  8. I wonder if Paul gets paid to troll. He apparently does not petition any more. If he is getting paid, who is paying him? My guess would be the Mossad or the ADL or the SPLC, or maybe some other Jewish/leftist organization. May George Soros’ (real name: Aaron Schwartzman) Open Society.

  9. There needs to be some kind of long term solution to all these Jews and leftists causing all these problems online and in the real world.

  10. Aaron Schwartzman is a dentist in Beverly hill’s. There was also a chess player by that name in the 1930s.

  11. All Jews are not leftists. Don’t forget about the neo-conservative Jews. Much smaller numbers hold other ideologies.

  12. Their just pretending. All Jews are communist. Some broadcast it, others conceal it.
